Mike Gebhardt
Michael William "Gebi" Gebhardt (born November 25, 1965) is a former professional and Olympic windsurfer from the United States, who competed in five consecutive Summer Olympics, in the Olympic sailing discipline/event of windsurfing. He was born in Columbus, Ohio. In the summer of 1981, at the age of 15, Gebhardt learned to windsurf in his back yard in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Living on Okaloosa Islands waterfront, Gebi spent most of his adolescent days in the water; swimming, surfing, waterskiing, freediving, fishing and sailing Hobie beach cats and weekend cruising on his dad's 50 foot all wooden schooner sailboat, "The Pele". When Gebi's younger brother Jon sailed home on a windsurfer, Gebhardt knew he had found the perfect wind and wave powered sport to take his love of the ocean to the next level. Scott Steele
Randall Scott Steele (born February 26, 1958) is an American competitive sailor, World Champion (Windsurfer) and Olympic Silver Medalist (Yachting/Sailing/ Windglider) Career At the 1984 Summer Olympics, Steele finished in 2nd place in the men's Windglider sailing/windsurfing competition. Prior to that, he was honored as a two-time All American Intercollegiate sailor while at St. Mary's College of Maryland. Scott was the first All American from St. Mary's along with his teammate in 1979, Monty Spindler, and was honored into the St. Mary's College of Maryland Hall of Fame in 1990. While at St. Mary's, Scott learned how to Windsurf from his brother Ron, and helped bring Windsurfing to St. Mary's. Kiteboarding or kitesurfing is a sport that involves using wind power with a large power kite to pull a rider across a water, land, snow, sand, or other surface. It combines the aspects of paragliding, surfing, windsurfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, and wakeboarding. Kiteboarding is among the less expensive and more convenient sailing sports. After some concepts and designs that emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s were successfully tested, the sport received a wider audience in the late 1990s and became mainstream at the turn of the century. Bimini Island
Bimini is the westernmost district of the Bahamas and comprises a chain of islands located about due east of Miami. Bimini is the closest point in the Bahamas to the mainland United States and approximately west-northwest of Nassau. The population is 2,417 as of the 2022 census. Geography Bimini's largest islands are North Bimini, South Bimini, and East Bimini. Smaller islands in the Bimini chain include Gun Cay, North Cat Cay, South Cat Cay, and Ocean Cay.
