Mike Galanos
Mike Galanos (born November 7, 1964) is a former American news anchor for HLN, currently appearing as part of the team on '' Morning Express with Robin Meade''. Based in CNN's world headquarters in Atlanta, Galanos joined the network in May 2002. He graduated ''summa cum laude'' from San Francisco State University. Galanos was the local sports anchor on KTVN-TV in Reno, Nevada from 1991 to 1994 with Ric Renner as the weekend anchor, and was well known for his excellent knowledge of sports in northern Nevada. Early life and career Galanos was born November 7, 1964. He is of Greek origin. He started out as a news cameraman, teleprompter operator and video journalist at CNN Headline News for news anchors Don Harrison and Bobbie Battista in the late 1980s. HLN (TV Channel)
HLN is an American basic cable network. Owned by CNN Worldwide, the network primarily carries true-crime programming, recently drifting away from limited live news programming. The channel was originally launched on January 1, 1982, by Turner Broadcasting as CNN2 (later renamed Headline News or CNN Headline News), a sister network to CNN that broadcast a looping, half-hour cycle of segments covering various news topics. Erica Ruth Hill-Yount is an American journalist who, as of 2024, works for CNN. She serves as a primary substitute anchor and a correspondent. She co-anchored '' Weekend Today'' from 2012 to 2016, following work at CBS since 2008. Personal life Hill was born in Clinton, Connecticut, the daughter of Cheryl and Steven Holmes Hill. CNN/Sports Illustrated (CNN/SI) was a 24-hour sports news Television network, network. Created when Time Warner merged its CNN and ''Sports Illustrated'' brands, it launched on December 12, 1996. Other news networks like ESPNews provided 30-minute blocks of news and highlights in a similar fashion to CNN Headline News at the time, but CNN/SI was live daily from 7am to 2am. Its purpose was to provide the most comprehensive sports news service on television, bringing in-depth sports news from around the world, and integrating the internet and television. Don Harrison
Don Harrison (August 8, 1936 – May 2, 1998) was an anchor on CNN Headline News from 1982 until his death from renal cancer in 1998. He was a member of the original team of anchors when Headline News went on the air for the first time as "CNN2" in 1982. Harrison, a native of Ottawa, Kansas, graduated from Ottawa High School in 1954 and attended Kansas State Teachers College, now Emporia State University. He spent over three decades in the broadcast business. He began his TV career at WIBW in Topeka after previously doing radio. From 1962 to 1973, he was on the staff of KCMO-TV (now KCTV) in Kansas City. While there, he won an award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for a documentary called "This Old House." He anchored WBAL-TV's Action News in Baltimore in the early 1970s.
