Mike Colandro
Michael Violette Colandro (May 27, 1953 – August 9, 2015) was an American professional golfer. Colandro played briefly on the PGA Tour in 1979 and 1980 but did not have much success. In 1981, he started to play on the PGA Tour of Australia. Despite multiple personal tragedies, a rancorous relationship with rules officials, and a precarious exemption status he was able to play 16 consecutive seasons on the Australian tour, culminating with his only official tour victory, the 1987 Air New Zealand Shell Open. In 1995, he largely retired as a touring professional. He still worked in the golf industry, however, as a swing instructor, creator of golf-related DVDs-CDs, and charity fundraiser, while also working on a self-published autobiography, ''Almost an Aussie''. Wayne Levi
Wayne John Levi (born February 22, 1952) is an American professional golfer. Early life Levi was born in Little Falls, New York and attended high school in Herkimer, New York. He enrolled at Oswego State University for two years and then the University of South Florida briefly, before turning professional in 1973. Professional career Levi went on to win 12 times on the PGA Tour. His career year was 1990, when he had four wins, finished second on the final money list and was the appointed PGA Tour Player of the Year. After winning the 1990 Canadian Open, Levi advanced to a career best 19th on the Official World Golf Ranking. After the 1990 season, Levi was placed 16th on the PGA Tour All-time-money-list. The annual PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament, also known as Qualifying School or Q-School, was historically the main method by which golfers earned PGA Tour playing privileges, commonly known as a Tour card. Beginning in 2013, Q-School grants privileges only for the Korn Ferry Tour, the PGA Tour's official developmental circuit. San Antonio Texas Open
The Texas Open, known as the Valero Texas Open for sponsorship reasons, is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour, played near San Antonio, Texas. It dates back years to 1922, when it was first called the Texas Open; San Antonio-based Valero Energy Corporation took over naming rights in 2002. The Greater Milwaukee Open was a regular golf tournament in Wisconsin on the PGA Tour. For 42 years, it was played annually in the Milwaukee area, the final sixteen editions in the north suburb of Brown Deer at the Brown Deer Park Golf Course. Danny Thomas-Memphis Classic
The FedEx St. Jude Classic was a professional golf tournament held in Memphis, Tennessee as a regular event on the PGA Tour. The tournament was held annually from 1958 through 2018, and was played in June at TPC Southwind (since 1989). In 2019, FedEx took over sponsorship of the WGC Invitational and relocated the tournament to Memphis in late July. The relocated WGC event continues the charitable relationship with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This is a list of the Spring 1979 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. The event was held at Pinehurst No. 6, a new course at the Pinehurst Resort. The course opened in March and the event was held three months later. There were 150 players in the finals. Top 25 players and anyone tied for 25th place would graduate onto the PGA Tour.
