Mike Causey
John Michael Causey (born September 11, 1950) is an American politician who has served as the North Carolina Commissioner of Insurance since 2017. Early life Causey grew up in rural Guilford County on a produce farm. He sold produce at local farm markets and owned Greensboro Downtown Farm Market which closed after Causey went to work in Raleigh with the North Carolina Department of Transportation in 2013. Political career Causey ran for the office of commissioner of insurance in 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2012 as the state Republican nominee, but lost each race. In 2014 he sought a seat in the U.S. Congress, but placed seventh in the Republican primary. In 2016, Causey again sought the office of insurance commissioner and defeated incumbent Democrat Wayne Goodwin. Causey assumed the office of insurance commissioner in January 2017. The commissioner is a state constitutional officer, constitutional officer who leads the state's Department of Insurance and sits on the North Carolina Council of State. Robert Brawley
Clyde Robert Brawley (born April 10, 1944) is a former American politician who was a Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly. He represented the state's 43rd House district, including constituents in Catawba and Iredell counties (formerly the 35th district and now the 95th district) from 1981 until he retired in 1999. While in office, Brawley was elected the President of the National Republican Legislators Association and was named National Legislator of the Year in 1995. Brawley ran for North Carolina Commissioner of Insurance in 2004, losing to Democratic incumbent James Long. Sean Newton Haugh (born November 17, 1960) is an American politician and pizza delivery man who has run for Senate in North Carolina under the Libertarian Party nomination in 2002, 2014 and 2016. He currently resides in Durham, North Carolina. Campaigns 2002 During his 2002 campaign Haugh also acted as Executive Director of the Libertarian Party of North Carolina. Haugh helped raise money for Libertarian candidates by helping sell calendars featuring pinups of female Libertarians which were made by fellow Libertarian Rachel Mills, an idea thought up during an informal conversation between Haugh and Mills about fundraising.
