Mike Brown (safety)
Mike Brown (born February 13, 1978) is an American former professional football player who was a safety for ten seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected with the eighth pick of the second round of the 2000 NFL draft out of the University of Nebraska by the Chicago Bears. Brown was ranked #49 in ESPN Chicago's "50 Greatest Bears" poll in 2012. High school career Mike Brown graduated from Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1996, where he played both football and baseball. In football, he was an All-State choice and ranked the top defensive back prospect in the country by SuperPrep, and named Arizona Player-of-the-Year by every major publication. Safety (American Football Position)
Safety (S), historically known as a safetyman, is a position in gridiron football on the American football positions#Defense, defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety (FS) and the strong safety (SS). The 2000 NFL draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur U.S. college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. Fumble
A fumble in gridiron football occurs when a player who has possession and control of the ball loses it before being downed (tackled), scoring, or going out of bounds. By rule, it is any act other than passing, kicking, punting, or successful handing that results in loss of ball possession by a player.
