Mike Baxter (baseball)
Michael Joseph Baxter (born December 7, 1984) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs. He was also the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator for his alma Mater, Vanderbilt University. Early years Baxter was born and raised in the Queens, New York neighborhood of Whitestone, where he attended St. Luke's Parish school and part of the Bayside Little League. He graduated from Archbishop Molloy High School in 2002. Baxter attended Columbia University, and he then attended Vanderbilt University. In 2004 and 2005, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Hyannis Mets of the Cape Cod Baseball League. 2012 New York Mets Season
The 2012 New York Mets season was the franchise's 51st season and its 4th in Citi Field. The team also celebrated its 50th anniversary since their inaugural season in 1962. Johan Santana pitched the first no-hitter in franchise history on June 1, 2012 against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Mets finished with a 74–88 record and 4th place in the National League East, missing the postseason for the sixth straight season. Collegiate Summer Baseball
Collegiate summer baseball leagues are amateur baseball leagues in the United States and Canada featuring players who have attended at least one year of college and have at least one year of athletic eligibility remaining. Generally, they operate from early June to early August. In contrast to college baseball, which allow aluminum or other composite baseball bats, players in these leagues use only wooden bats, hence the common nickname of these leagues as "wood-bat leagues". Collegiate summer leagues allow college baseball players the ability to compete using professional rules and equipment, giving them experience and allowing professional scouts the opportunity to observe players under such conditions. Triple-A (officially Class AAA) has been the highest level of play in Minor League Baseball in the United States since 1946. Currently, two sports league, leagues operate at the Triple-A level, the International League (IL) and the Pacific Coast League (PCL). There are 30 teams, one per Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise, with 20 in the IL and 10 in the PCL. The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are an American Minor League Baseball team based in Binghamton, New York. Johan Alexander Santana Araque (; born March 13, 1979) is a Venezuelan former professional baseball starting pitcher.
