Mihail G. Cantacuzino
Mihail G. Cantacuzino (6 April 1867 – 28 August 1928) was a Romanian politician. After receiving doctorates in Law and Literature from the University of Paris, he became a prominent member of the Conservative Party. He served as Mayor of Bucharest from 1904 to 1907 and was elected to the Chamber of Deputies for Ialomița County in 1909. He was Justice Minister from December 1910 to January 1914 and again from December 1916 to January 1918 in the national unity government of Ion I. C. Brătianu. In 1922, together with other members of the late Take Ionescu's Conservative-Democratic Party, he joined the Romanian National Party, becoming its vice president for the former Old Kingdom. Romanian National Party
The Romanian National Party ( ro, Partidul Național Român, PNR), initially known as the Romanian National Party in Transylvania and Banat (), was a political party which was initially designed to offer ethnic representation to Romanians in the Kingdom of Hungary, the Transleithanian half of Austria-Hungary, and especially to those in Transylvania and Banat. Cantacuzino Family
The House of Cantacuzino (french: Cantacuzène) is a Romanian aristocratic family of Greek origin. The family gave a number of princes to Wallachia and Moldavia, and it claimed descent from a branch of the Byzantine Kantakouzenos family, specifically from Byzantine Emperor John VI Kantakouzenos (reigned 1347–1354). After the Russo-Ottoman War of 1710–11, a lateral branch of the family settled in Russia, receiving the princely (''Knyaz'', as opposed to '' Velikij Knyaz'') status. In 1944, Prince Ștefan Cantacuzino settled in Sweden, where his descendants form part of the unintroduced nobility of that country. Constantin Cantacuzino (aviator)
Constantin Cantacuzino (nicknamed ''Bâzu''; 11 November 1905 – 26 May 1958) was a Romanian aviator, the leading World War II fighter ace of his country, as well as a member of the Cantacuzino family. Early life Cantacuzino was born in Bucharest. His father was Mihail Cantacuzino and his mother Maria Tescanu Rosetti, later known as Maruca Cantacuzino; they were both from old Romanian noble families. After his father died, Maria Rosetti married for a second time, to George Enescu (Romania's greatest composer and a world class violinist). Constantin Cantacuzino went to high-school in Bucharest. He loved motor sports and he could afford to practice them all the time. He was an excellent motor bike racer, winning several races, and driver. He set a new record on the Paris-Bucharest race. Maria Tescanu Rosetti (1879–1968), was a Romanian aristocrat and royal court official. Life Born in Berești-Tazlău, Bacău County, she was a descendant of some illustrious Moldavian boyar families. Her father Dumitru was descended from the Rosetti family, and from her mother, Alice Rosetti-Tescanus, from the Negri-Jora, and both were well-known intellectuals. Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino (22 September 1833 – 22 March 1913), was a Romanian politician and lawyer, one of the leading Conservative Party policymakers. Among his political posts were minister of public instruction in Romania, president of the chamber, and president of the senate. He twice served as the Prime Minister of Romania: between 23 April 1899 and 19 July 1900, and between 4 January 1906 and 24 March 1907. The Romanian Old Kingdom ( ro, Vechiul Regat or just ''Regat''; german: Regat or ) is a colloquial term referring to the territory covered by the first independent Romanian nation state, which was composed of the Romanian Principalities: Wallachia and Moldavia. The union of the two principalities was achieved when, under the auspices of the Treaty of Paris (1856), the ''ad hoc'' Divans of both countries, which were then under Ottoman Empire suzerainty, voted for Alexander Ioan Cuza as their prince.
