Miguel Vargas (politician)
Miguel Octavio Vargas Maldonado (born 26 September 1950) is a Dominican Republic, Dominican civil engineer, businessman, and politician. He is the current chairman of the Dominican Revolutionary Party, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs. Biography Miguel Vargas is the extra marital son of Altagracia Maldonado and Pedro Antonio Rivera Abreu, an agro-industrial businessman and politician. Vargas is named after the husband of his mother, Octavio Vargas. Vargas studied at the Colegio San Juan Bosco, where obtained his high school diploma. Afterwards, he pursued a Bachelor's of Science in Civil engineering, Civil Engineering from the Universidad de Puerto Rico, University of Puerto Rico. Upon graduation, Vargas began his professional life as a supervising engineer in the engineering department and buildings of the CODETEL, Compañía Dominicana de Teléfonos (CODETEL). Miguel Alejandro Vargas Soto (born 15 May 1969) is a Chilean former footballer who played as a midfielder for clubs in Chile and Greece. Club career A product of Colo-Colo youth system, Vargas took part of the first team thanks to the coach Arturo Salah and made five appearances in 1988 in the league, as well as in the Copa Libertadores. He also was with them in the 1995 season. In both the 1987 and 1989 seasons, he played on loan at Rangers de Talca. In the Chilean Primera División, he also played for Deportes Antofagasta (1992), Coquimbo Unido (1994), Unión Española (1996) and Palestino. In the Chilean Segunda División, he played for Audax Italiano (1991), Magallanes (1993) and Santiago Morning (1998). Miguel Rodrigo Pereira Vargas (born 18 November 1978) is a Portuguese former footballer who played as a winger. Club career An unsuccessful Sporting CP youth graduate, Lisbon-born Vargas only appeared for its reserves as a senior, also being loaned three times, the first at Académica de Coimbra where he made his Primeira Liga debut at age 19. After his release in the summer of 2001, Vargas moved to F.C. Alverca, experiencing his most steady period in his country with three consecutive seasons – two of those in the top division – being relegated in 2003–04. Subsequently, he moved to U.D. Leiria, but quickly changed to G.D. Estoril Praia of the second level, initially on loan. Miguel Ángel Vargas Mañán (born 15 June 1996) is a Chilean footballer who currently plays for Peruvian Liga 1 club Universitario de Deportes as a goalkeeper. Club career Vargas came from the youth ranks of Universidad Católica, where he arrived at the age of 12, being promoted to the senior team in 2015 under manager Mario Salas. International career Along with Chile U20, he won the L'Alcúdia Tournament in 2015. He got his first call up to the senior Chile squad for a friendly against Paraguay in September 2015.
