Miguel Bezos
Miguel Ángel "Mike" Bezos Pérez (born ) is a Cuban-American billionaire and philanthropist who provided the initial investment to launch Amazon.com. He is a co-founder of the Bezos Family Foundation. He is the adoptive father of Jeff Bezos, the father of Mark Bezos and the husband of Jackie Bezos. Early life Miguel Ángel Bezos was born in in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, and was raised with his brother and sister. His father, originally from Spain, owned a lumber mill and his mother was a part-time shopkeeper, selling fabric and infant clothing. His parents were supporters of Fidel Castro until Castro shifted his political stance towards Marxism–Leninism, seizing the family's lumber business. Operation Peter Pan (or Operación Pedro Pan) was a clandestine exodus of over 14,000 unaccompanied Cuban minors ages 6 to 18 to the United States over a two-year span from 1960 to 1962. They were sent by parents who feared, on the basis of unsubstantiated rumors propagated by the US, that Fidel Castro and the Communist party were planning to terminate parental rights and place minors in alleged "communist indoctrination centers", commonly referred to as the ''Patria Potestad''. No such actions by the Castro regime ever took place. The program consisted of two main components: the mass transportation of Cuban children via airplane to the United States – Miami as a particularly common hub – and the programs set up to care for them once they arrived. Theodore Jorgensen (October 10, 1944 – March 16, 2015) was an American unicycle hockey player, the president of the world's first unicycle hockey club, and a bicycle shop owner-operator. He was the biological father of e‑commerce magnate Jeff Bezos. Jorgensen was born in Chicago to a Danish-American family that moved to Albuquerque when he was a teenager.
