Midwest Prep Hockey League
The Midwest Prep Hockey League (abbreviated MPHL) is a highly elite prep school ice hockey league in North America. The Midwest Prep League was founded in 2000; the original six league members were Culver Academies (IN), Gilmour Academy (OH), Lake Forest Academy (IL), Park Tudor School (IN), Shady Side Academy (PA), and St. Francis High School (NY). Since its inception the league has grown to ten Division 1 level prep school teams across the United States and Canada. The MPHL aids in preparing student athletes for college ice hockey and other higher levels of hockey. The league has maintained a competitive level of play throughout the USA and Canada, and has scheduled "Showcase" Weekends for scouts to see all the teams & players at one site . Many former MPHL players have gone on to play in NCAA college hockey at a variety of levels. } Shady Side Academy is an independent preparatory school in Fox Chapel, Pennsylvania in Greater Pittsburgh. Founded in 1883 as an all-male night school in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, the academy now offers a secular coeducational PK–12 program on four campuses in the city and its suburbs, including a boarding program in the Croft and Morewood Houses of its Senior School Campus. Mark Jankowski (born September 13, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL). Jankowski was selected in the first round, 21st overall, at the 2012 NHL entry draft, by the Calgary Flames. He is the highest selected Canadian high school player in draft history, having played for Stanstead College for two seasons leading to the draft. Blake Daniel Geoffrion (born February 3, 1988) is an American former professional ice hockey player who last played for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected in the second round, 56th overall, by the Nashville Predators in the 2006 NHL entry draft and made his NHL debut on February 26, 2011. Patrick Kaleta (born June 8, 1986) is an Americans, American former professional ice hockey winger (ice hockey), right winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Buffalo Sabres from 2006 until 2015.
