Midnight McCartney
''Midnight McCartney'' is a tribute album by John Pizzarelli to Paul McCartney, including tracks from Wings. It was released in 2015 with Concord. According to the album's press release, Paul McCartney suggested John Pizzarelli perform tracks from his canon, and offered the title. Pizzarelli had previously performed Beatles songs in his 1996 album '' Meets the Beatles''. John's wife Jessica Molaskey, daughter Madeleine Pizzarelli, father Bucky Pizzarelli, and brother Martin Pizzarelli all performed on the album. Reception Writing for AllMusic, Stephen Thomas Erlewine praised the source material, but commented the "key to the record's success is Pizzarelli himself, who delivers upon the laid-back promise of the title but is savvier than he needed to be, which is why Midnight McCartney satisfies." John Pizzarelli
John Paul Pizzarelli Jr. (born April 6, 1960) is an American jazz guitarist and vocalist. He has recorded over twenty solo albums and has appeared on more than forty albums by other recording artists, including Paul McCartney, James Taylor, Rosemary Clooney; his father, jazz guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli; and his wife, singer Jessica Molaskey. Early life The son of swing guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, John Pizzarelli was born in Paterson, New Jersey. He started on guitar when he was six and played trumpet through his college years. He attended Don Bosco Preparatory High School, an all-boys Catholic school. In his teens, he performed with Benny Goodman, Les Paul, Zoot Sims, Slam Stewart, and Clark Terry. Pizzarelli attended the University of Tampa and William Paterson University, though he has said that his most important teacher was his father from 1980 to 1990. "Heart of the Country" is a song written by Paul and Linda McCartney from their album ''Ram'' released in 1971. Origins The song has simple acoustic tune with a heavy bass chorus, and an unusually mellow sound to the acoustic guitar that was achieved by tuning all of the strings a full step lower than standard pitch. The song is about a man searching for a farm in the middle of nowhere. The song reflects Paul's heading for the Scottish countryside to escape the headaches associated with the Beatles' break-up at the time. Linda McCartney
Linda Louise, Lady McCartney ( Eastman; September 24, 1941 – April 17, 1998) was an American photographer, musician, cookbook author, and activist. She was the keyboardist and harmony vocalist in the band Paul McCartney and Wings, Wings that also featured her husband, Paul McCartney of the Beatles. Beginning in the mid-1960s, Linda began a career as a photographer, landing with ''Town & Country (magazine), Town & Country'', where she soon gained assignments to photograph various musicians and entertainers. By the late 1960s, she was a regular fixture at the Fillmore East, a New York concert venue, where she became the unofficial house photographer capturing numerous performances at the legendary club, and was the first woman to have a photograph on the cover of the influential music magazine ''Rolling Stone''. Michael McDonald (musician)
Michael H. McDonald (born February 12, 1952) is an American singer, songwriter and keyboardist. Known for his distinctive, soulful voice, he was a backing vocalist for Steely Dan from 1975 to 1980 and the lead vocalist of the Doobie Brothers across various stints (1975–1982, 1987, 2019–present). McDonald wrote and sang several hit singles with the Doobie Brothers, including " What a Fool Believes", " Minute by Minute", " Takin' It to the Streets", " Real Love" and " It Keeps You Runnin'". McDonald has also performed as a prominent backing vocalist on numerous recordings by artists including Steely Dan, Toto, Christopher Cross, and Kenny Loggins. Helio Alves (born 1966) is a jazz pianist and son of pianists. He moved to Boston, Massachusetts at 18 to study at the Berklee College of Music. He remained in Boston until age 24, then moved to New York City on advice from a friend. He has collaborated for many years with Claudio Roditi, including on the Grammy nominated ''Brazilliance X4'' (2007). He was the featured soloist on ''Then Again'' as a member of the Paul Peress Trio. "Wonderful Christmastime" is a Christmas music, Christmas song by the English musician Paul McCartney.
