Midnight Explosion
''Midnight Explosion'' is the third and final album by Austrian singer Penny McLean, released in 1978. The album was not a success, and its only single did not chart. At the time Penny reunited with Ramona & Rhonda for one final Silver Convention single, 1979's "Café Au Lait / Rollermania" which was also a flop. After the album she recorded five more singles, all without success, also released were three compilation albums. She laid the music behind and launched herself as an author, writing about esoteric subjects with several best-selling books to her credit.. Retrieved June 15, 2016 The album received favorable reviews, with Jason Kantof giving 4.5 stars out of 5. An unofficial CD was released in Russia. Penny McLean
Gertrude Wirschinger, better known as Penny McLean (born 4 November 1948), is an Austrian vocalist who initially gained acclaim with the disco music act Silver Convention, but also had exposure as a single recording artist. As a solo singer, she is most remembered for her million seller "Lady Bump". She is also an author. Early life She was born Gertrude Wirschinger in Klagenfurt, Austria. Music career In the early 1970s she was part of the duo Barbra & Helmut. They released "Hideaway" bw "Stop" on the Telefunken label in 1972. Late she was a member of the trio Tony & Liza & Penny. In 1973, they released a single on the Ariola label, "Öffne Die Tür" ("Open The Door") bw "Der Fremde" ("The Stranger"). Michael Rolf Kunze (born 9 November 1943, in Prague) is a foremost German musical theater lyricist and librettist. He is best known for the hit musicals ''Elisabeth'' (1992), ''Dance of the Vampires'' (1996), '' Mozart!'' (1999), ''Marie Antoinette'' (2006), and ''Rebecca'' (2006). He has also written the lyrics for a number of hit songs (under the pseudonym Stephan Prager), including the number one Billboard hit "Fly, Robin, Fly" (1976), and was one of the top 1970s record producers, producing songs for musical acts Silver Convention, Penny McLean, and Sister Sledge. Silver Convention were a German Euro disco recording act of the 1970s. The group was originally named Silver Bird Convention or Silver Bird. Career The group was initiated in Munich by producers and songwriters Sylvester Levay and Michael Kunze. The group was named after Levay, "Silver" being Levay's nickname. Kunze had in the late 1960s been a pop lyricist who wrote protest songs in German; when these tunes went out of style, he began producing pop records and commercials. Levay had developed a taste for American music while growing up in Yugoslavia, eventually becoming a music arranger and lyricist. Using female session vocalists named Ingrid, Wilma and Monica, they scored a successful single in the United Kingdom in 1975 with the song "Save Me", which peaked at #30. Keith Forsey (born 2 January 1948) is an English pop musician and record producer. Early life Forsey began his career as a percussionist in the mid-late 1960s as the drummer for The SpectrumCaptain Scarlet and the Mysterons - The Vault - Chris Bentley - Signum Books - 2017 and as the drummer in Udo Lindenberg's Panik Orchester until 1976, during which he also played percussion for Amon Düül II. By late 1970s, he was a pioneer of disco, working with artists such as Lipstique, Claudja Barry, La Bionda, the Italo Disco Inventors and Boney M.
