Midland M16
The Midland M16, also known as the Spyker M16, was the car with which the Midland team competed in the Formula One season. It was driven by Tiago Monteiro, who had driven for the team in during its Jordan guise, and Christijan Albers, who moved from Minardi. Although Eddie Jordan had sold his team prior to the start of the 2005 season, 2006 marked the first year for the team under the Midland banner. However, team owner Alex Shnaider would soon become frustrated with the vagaries of being a tail-ending team, and sold it to Spyker Cars just before the Italian GP. The cars' livery accordingly changed from red-and-grey to Dutch orange-and-silver, but the team was called Spyker MF1 Racing as a compromise to its sponsors. On the circuit, the car was a definite improvement on the Jordan EJ15, but it was not enough considering other teams' advances. Midland F1 Racing (also known as MF1 Racing, or simply "Midland") was a Formula One constructor and racing team which competed in the 2006 Formula One season with drivers Christijan Albers and Tiago Monteiro. The team was created by the renaming of Jordan Grand Prix after its purchase by Canadian businessman, and owner of the Midland Group, Alex Shnaider. Spyker Cars (, ) is a Dutch sports car marque. The modern Spyker Cars held the legal rights to the brand name. The company's motto is "''Nulla tenaci invia est via''", Latin for "For the tenacious, no road is impassable". The marque's logo displays an aircraft propeller superimposed over a spoked wheel, a reference to the historic Spyker company that manufactured automobiles and aircraft. Alexander Yevseyevich Shnaider (russian: Алекса́ндр Евсе́евич "А́лекс" Шнайдер; he, אלכסנדר (אלכס) שניידר; born 3 August 1968) is a Russian-born Canadian entrepreneur and former commodities trader. Edmund Patrick Jordan, OBE (born 30 March 1948), also known as EJ, is an Irish businessman, television personality and former motorsport team owner. Minardi was an Italian automobile racing team and constructor founded in Faenza in 1979 by Giancarlo Minardi.
