The Midland Bridge Company is a firm based in Kansas City, Missouri, United States, that has built numerous bridges. Several of its works are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Works of the firm include: * Dewey Bridge, built 1916, NE of Moab, Utah, carried Utah State Route 128 across the Colorado River. When completed, it was the second-longest suspension bridge west of the Mississippi River. Houck, Arizona
Houck ( nv, ) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Apache County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,024 at the 2010 census. History Houck was founded by a mail carrier by that name working a route from Prescott to Fort Wingate. In 1877, he established a trading post called Houck's Tank here. Houck left in 1885. Hurricane-LaVerkin Bridge
__NOTOC__ The Hurricane-La Verkin Bridge spans the Virgin River, connecting the towns of Hurricane and LaVerkin in southern Utah, United States. Description The five-panel steel Warren pony truss spans , and is supported by concrete-filled steel cylinder piers. It is one of the oldest Warren pony truss bridges in Utah, built in 1908 by the Midland Bridge Company. San Pedro River (Arizona)
The San Pedro River is a northward-flowing stream originating about south of the international border south of Sierra Vista, Arizona, in Cananea Municipality, Sonora, Mexico. The river starts at the confluence of other streams (Las Nutrias and El Sauz) just east of Sauceda, Cananea. Within Arizona, the river flows north through Cochise County, Pima County, Graham County, and Pinal County to its confluence with the Gila River, at Winkelman, Arizona. Hereford Bridge
The Hereford Bridge spans the San Pedro River near Hereford, Arizona, and was built in three stages. The first one was built in 1912–1913, consisting of a single span truss, with steel cylinder piers as supports. It as constructed by the Midland Bridge Company of Kansas City, Missouri for a cost of $3,112, and completed in March 1913. Two years later, Cochise County ordered a second span, as well as moving the original span approximately two-hundred feet upriver. The project was completed in 1915 by Bane and Tarrant, using a superstructure manufactured by Penn Bridge Company of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. The third and final stage was done in 1927, consisting of a third pony truss span. It was constructed by the Ware Company of El Paso, Texas, using a hundred-foot truss from the Virginia Bridge and Iron Company of Roanoke, Virginia. Green Bridge (Las Cruces, New Mexico)
The Green Bridge, on the outskirts of Las Cruces, New Mexico in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, was built in 1943. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. It is a single-span Pratt through truss bridge built by the Midland Bridge Co. The bridge has pinned connections that tie together seven 19-foot panel sections. It is long and wide. It currently is on the property of the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, at 4100 Dripping Springs Rd., just outside Las Cruces. It spans the Tortugas Arroyo, a dry wash. It originally was the middle one of a three-span bridge over the Pecos River, which was built in 1902. That location was in Chaves County. Shell is a census-designated place (CDP) in Big Horn County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 83 at the 2010 Census. The community is named for the abundance of fossil shells located in the area. Nearby exposed formations such as the Cloverly Formation and the Morrison Formation have yielded numerous fossils of dinosaurs and other animals. Located to the west of the town is the Red Gulch Dinosaur Tracksite, a rare collection of dinosaur tracks from the Jurassic period. Shell is home to the Iowa State University geology field station. EJE Bridge Over Shell Creek
The EJE Bridge over Shell Creek is a Warren pony truss bridge located near Shell, Wyoming, which carries Big Horn County Road CN9-57 across Shell Creek. The bridge was built in 1920 by the Midland Bridge Company, the only firm to bid for the bridge contract. At long, it is the longest known example of a Warren pony truss bridge in Wyoming. The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 22, 1985. It was one of several bridges added to the National Register for their role in the history of Wyoming bridge construction.
