Middle Dural is a semi-rural suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia, north-west of the Sydney central business district in the local government areas of Hornsby Shire and The Hills Shire. Dural is a separate suburb to the south. History Dural is derived from Dooral-Dooral, an Aboriginal name meaning ''a smoking hollow tree''. Castle Hill is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is represented by Mark Hodges of the Liberal Party. It is a conservative urban electorate in the Hills District in Sydney's north west. History The electorate formed during the redistribution in 2004 and replaced the former electorate of The Hills, which was abolished at the same time. It was first contested at the 2007 election, when it was won by Michael Richardson, previously the member for The Hills. The Dictionary of Sydney is a digital humanities project to produce an online, expert-written encyclopaedia of all aspects of the history of Sydney. Description The Dictionary is a partnership between the City of Sydney, the University of Sydney, the University of Technology Sydney, the State Library of New South Wales and the State Records Authority of New South Wales. It began in 2007 with Australian Research Council funding and launched on 5 November 2009. 2021 Australian Census
The 2021 Australian census, simply called the 2021 Census, was the eighteenth national Census of Population and Housing in Australia. The 2021 Census took place on 10 August 2021, and was conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). It had a response rate of 96.1%, up from the 95.1% at the 2016 census. The total population of the Commonwealth of Australia was counted as 25,422,788, an increase of 8.6 per cent or 2,020,896 people over the previous 2016 census. Results from the 2021 census were released to the public on 28 June 2022 from the Australian Bureau of Statistics website. A small amount of additional 2021 census data was released in October 2022 and in 2023. Australia's next census is scheduled to take place in 2026. Old Northern Road
The Great North Road is a historic road that was built to link early Sydney, in the Colony of New South Wales, now Australia, with the fertile Hunter Valley to the north. Built by convicts between 1825 and 1836, it traverses over of the rugged terrain that hindered early agricultural expansion. The road is of such cultural significance it was included on the Australian National Heritage List on 1 August 2007 as a ''nationally significant example of major public infrastructure developed using convict labour'' and on the UNESCO World Heritage list as amongst: " .. the best surviving examples of large-scale convict transportation and the colonial expansion of European powers through the presence and labour of convicts."
