Mid-South Conference
The Mid-South Conference (MSC) is a List of college athletic conferences in the United States, college athletic conference affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Member institutions are located in Kentucky and Tennessee. The league is headquartered in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and the commissioner is Eric Leach. The Mid-South Conference has 7 full members: Bethel University (Tennessee), Bethel (TN), Campbellsville University, Campbellsville, Cumberland University, Cumberland (TN), University of the Cumberlands, Cumberlands (KY), Freed–Hardeman University, Freed–Hardeman, Georgetown College (Kentucky), Georgetown (KY) and Lindsey Wilson College, Lindsey Wilson. Mid-South Wrestling
The Universal Wrestling Federation was a 1986 re-branding of wrestler-turned-owner Bill Watts' Mid-South Wrestling promotion. Watts' goal was to elevate his promotion from a relatively smaller, regional-level business, to a national-level rival of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now known as WWE). However, Watts' business strategy quickly swung from "overnight" success to catastrophic failure, resulting in the 1987 sale of the UWF to another rival: Jim Crockett Promotions (owner of Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, Georgia Championship Wrestling, the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA)'s most important championships, and the predecessor of World Championship Wrestling). The promotion began as an List of NWA territories, NWA territory, NWA Tri-State, founded by Leroy McGuirk in the 1950s. Mid-South Coliseum
Mid-South Coliseum is an indoor arena in Memphis, Tennessee. The facility was opened in 1964, and became known "The Entertainment Capitol of the Mid-South" due its significance in hosting events such as concerts, sports games and professional wrestling shows. The Coliseum closed in 2006. In the late 2010s, efforts emerged to help preserve and refurbish the arena as part of a larger redevelopment of the surrounding area. Mid-South Community College
Arkansas State University Mid-South, formerly Mid-South Community College (MSCC), is a public community college in West Memphis, Arkansas. ASU Mid-South offers degree programs, technical courses, community educational offerings, and intercollegiate athletics. History Mid-South Community College was established in 1992. Its original purpose, before becoming a community college, was to provide vocational and technical education for the region. The college now offers associate degrees, technical certificates, certificates of proficiency, and college courses toward "core" requirements for four-year schools. Memphis Metropolitan Area
The Memphis–Clarksdale–Forrest City Combined Statistical Area, TN–MS–AR (CSA) is the commercial and cultural hub of the Mid-South or Ark-Miss-Tenn. The census-defined combined statistical area covers eleven counties in three states, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. As of 2020 census, the Memphis metropolitan area had a population of 1,389,905 The Forrest City, Arkansas Micropolitan area was added to the Memphis area in 2012 to form the Memphis–Forrest City Combined Statistical area. In 2023 the Clarksdale, Mississippi Micropolitan area was also added to form the new Memphis-Clarksdale-Forrest City Combined Statistical Area which as of 2023 had a population of roughly 1.4 million people according to census estimates. Mid-South Pride
Mid-South Pride is a non-profit corporation located in Memphis, Tennessee. Mid-South Pride Memphis was founded in May 2003, to take over the work formerly done by Memphis Pride. Mid-South Pride produces the annual Pride Parade, Festival and Picnic for Memphis as well as other events that reflect the history of Pride in the LGBT community. Mid-South Pride is led by an unpaid, board of directors and relies on volunteers and community support to product the annual LGBT pride events. One of the major elements that separates Mid-South Pride from other pride organizations is the requirement that all events must be paid in full, so that the organization never takes on more than it can actually pay for. Mid-South Fair
The Mid-South Fair is a fair that was held for many years in Memphis, Tennessee, every year in late September and early October. It is now held in neighboring northwest Mississippi. It hosts many shows and attractions, as well as different types of rides and concession stands. Not only is it popular in the Memphis area, but also in the adjacent states of Mississippi and Arkansas, and even nearby Missouri. The fair's official website states, "As a non-profit organization, our mission is not to make money. Rather, the Fair exists to create a cultural and entertainment experience that exposes the people in our community to items and events they might not otherwise encounter. Victory University, formerly Crichton College, was a private for-profit university in Memphis, Tennessee. It closed in May 2014 and was owned by California-based Significant Education. Victory University was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and offered on-campus and distance learning courses. History Victory University was founded as the Mid-South Bible Center in 1944. Shortly after, the institution became the Mid-South Bible Institute with a non-credit Adult Education Program and a one-year Basic Bible Course. The Unitarian Universalist Association, an association of Unitarian Universalist Congregations in the United States of America, is composed of 19 Districts. Structure Each District has its own District-level organization, complete with governing body (in the form of an elected council, or board). Districts provide services to their member congregations, including help with ministerial settlement. Each District has a representative on the UUA's Board of Trustees.
