Mickey Keating (director)
Mickey Keating (born 1990) is an American film director and writer. His work includes ''Ritual (2013 film), Ritual'', ''Pod (film), Pod'', ''Darling (2015 American film), Darling'', ''Carnage Park'', and ''Psychopaths (film), Psychopaths''. Career Keating interned at Blumhouse when he was a teenager. His feature directing debut, the horror film ''Ritual (2013 film), Ritual'', was produced by Eric Fleischmann, a friend who was also a former intern there. His next two films, ''Pod (film), Pod'', a science fiction-horror film, and ''Darling (2015 American film), Darling'', a psychological horror film, were shot nine months apart; both premiered in 2015. ''Pod'' is a 2015 American horror film written and directed by Mickey Keating. It stars Lauren Ashley Carter, Dean Cates, Brian Morvant, Larry Fessenden, and John Weselcouch. Carter and Cates play siblings who stage an intervention for their unstable brother, played by Morvant. As the situation spirals out of control, they begin to wonder if what they had dismissed as their brother's paranoid delusions may be true. Writing was influenced by ''The Twilight Zone'' and classic horror films of the 1970s, including the 1978 version of ''Invasion of the Body Snatchers'', which inspired the title. ''Carnage Park'' is a 2016 American crime horror thriller film directed and written by Mickey Keating. The film stars Ashley Bell, Darby Stanchfield, Pat Healy, and Alan Ruck. Keating described ''Carnage Park'' as being a nod to films by Sam Peckinpah and Peter Watkins that were made in the 1970s, and he built the film around that concept. Plot In 1978, two thieves, "Scorpion Joe" and Lenny, escape into the desert with a hostage, Vivian, after a failed heist.
