Michael Walsh (1934 – 30 September 2013) was an Irish hurler. Slieverue GAA
Slieverue GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Slieverue, County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club fields teams in hurling and Gaelic football. History Slieverue is one of Kilkenny's oldest clubs, having affiliated in the GAA's foundation year in 1884. The club has operated in the junior ranks for much of its existence, however, it has had some success in the upper tiers. Slieverue's first major success was a Kilkenny IHC title in 1936. The Kilkenny JHC was secured in 1950, a victory which heralded further success over the rest of the decade. Slieverue contested three Kilkenny SHC finals, with the club beating Tullaroan to claim their only title in 1954. Slieverue Hurlers
Slieverue, officially Slieveroe, () is a village in South County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is located in the historical barony of Ida. Despite the name, the land is relatively low-lying and fertile. Slieverue's population, as of the 2016 census, was 476. Geography The village lies alongside the main N25 road, some 5 km from Waterford City and 14 km from New Ross in County Wexford, near the point where the Rivers Barrow and Suir come together. Landmarks A prominent local hill, known as Carriganurra, features a large concrete cross at its summit. This cross was erected by local residents in 1950 to celebrate the Holy Year. The Church of the Assumption is an early nineteenth century Roman Catholic church in Slieverue village. The only church in the parish, it was renovated in the early 1990s. The Waterford county hurling team represents Waterford in hurling and is governed by Waterford GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest-tier competition for inter-county hurling in Ireland and has been contested in every year except one since 1887 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, 1887. The final, formerly held in September, then August and now moved to July, is the culmination of a series of games played during July and August, with the winning team receiving the Liam MacCarthy Cup. Mount Sion GAA
Mount Sion () is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Waterford City, County Waterford, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It was founded by teachers in the school of the same name. Although technically separate from the school, the club still maintains a close relationship with the school, sharing the same sports facilities in the city. The club fields teams in both the Waterford GAA, Waterford Hurling and Gaelic football championships and has had many famous players, including Eoin Daniels (hurler), John Keane, Philly Grimes, Tony Browne and Ken McGrath. The club is mainly concerned with the game of hurling and is the most successful in Waterford with 35 county title wins, although they did win 5 county football titles back in the 1950s. They have also won 2 Munster Senior Hurling titles, in 1981 with victory over Limerick club South Liberties (3-9 to 1–4) and in 2002 beating Sixmilebridge of Clare (0-12 to 0–10).
