Tannymorel, Queensland
Tannymorel is a rural town and locality in the Southern Downs Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Tannymorel had a population of 148 people. History The name ''Tannymorel'' comes from a village in Ireland and means ''a bend in the creek''. It was named by Patrick Leslie and Ernest Dalrymple, both of whom were from Scotland. Farm Creek Provisional School opened in May 1877 with teacher Mrs Fanny Spencely. On 18 January 1892, it became Farm Creek State School. In 1910, it was renamed Tannymorel State School. In 1914-1915, a new school building was erected with the old building being relocated to Mount Colliery to establish Mount Colliery State School. Tannymorel State School closed on 20 July 2017. The school was at 2 Oak Street (). The school's website was archived. Dave Brown (rugby League, Born 1913)
David Michael Brown (4 April 1913 – 23 February 1974) was one of Australia's greatest rugby league footballers. Brown in his distinctive headgear was said to be one of the most admired sights in the game during the 1930s. He won two premierships with Easts and scored so many points, tries and goals and established so many records (some may never be bettered) that he is referred to as "the Bradman of league". In 2003 Brown was inducted into the Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame and in 2008 he was named in the New South Wales rugby league team of the century. In 2018, Brown joined Rugby League's elite by being inducted as a Rugby League Immortal. Background Brown was born Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Frank McMillan
Frank McMillan (14 December 1899 – 26 December 1966) was an Australian rugby league footballer and coach. He was a full-back for the Australia national rugby league team, Australian national team and played in nine Tests between 1929 and 1934, two as captain. McMillan has since been named amongst the nation's finest players of the 20th century. Club career McMillan was born in Menindee, New South Wales and was graded with the Western Suburbs Magpies in 1921. He played fourteen seasons of first grade rugby league all with Wests, aside from the 1925 season which he spent playing for the Balmain Tigers. Elton Rasmussen
Elton Rasmussen (1936–1978) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s. He was a with the St. George Dragons during the second half of their 11-year consecutive premiership winning run from 1956 to 1966. He was a representative in the Australian national team from 1959 to 1962 and from 1967 to 1968. Career Rasmussen was playing for Toowoomba when first selected for Queensland in 1959. That year he played in the Queensland victory over New South Wales that attracted 35,261 spectators, smashing Brisbane's previous record for an interstate match of 22,817. He was then picked on the 1959-60 Kangaroo tour and made his Test debut in that Ashes series against Great Britain. He played in two Tests and fifteen minor matches on tour. The Queensland Rugby League Team of the Century is a hypothetical team comprising the best players who have played for Queensland to form a team for 1909 until 2008. Rugby league in Queensland was initiated in 1909 with the Queensland Rugby League, Queensland Rugby Football League competition, which evolved into the Brisbane Rugby League, Brisbane Rugby Football League in 1922. In 1988, a national competition encompassing all Australian states including Queensland meant that the Brisbane Rugby Football League competition became a second tier to the national competition.
