Mick Lowry
Mick Lowry (born 8 October 1960) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer whose league and championship career at senior level with the Offaly county team spanned eleven seasons from 1980 to 1991. Lowry made his senior debut for Offaly during the 1980-81 league. Over the course of the next eleven seasons he won one All-Ireland in 1982. Lowry also won two Leinster medals. He played his last game for Offaly in July 1991. Lowry's brothers, Seán and Brendan, also won All-Ireland medals with Offaly in 1982. His nephew, Shane, is a professional golfer. Ferbane GAA
Ferbane/Belmont GAA is a football club in the Gaelic Athletic Association located in Ferbane in County Offaly, Ireland, 13 miles from Birr. The Ferbane GAA field is located in the town of Ferbane on the Ballycumber Road. Ferbane play in the Offaly championship. Ferbane holds the record for the club with the longest continuous sponsorship deal in Gaelic football. Honours Football Ferbane enjoyed most of their success in the '80s and start of '90s where they won a 5 in a row of Offaly Senior Football Championship titles from 1986–90 and also a Leinster Senior Club Football Championship title in 1986 beating Portlaoise. Shane Lowry
Shane Lowry (born 2 April 1987) is an Irish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and the PGA Tour. His notable achievements include winning the 2019 Open Championship, the Irish Open as an amateur in 2009, and the 2015 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. Early life Born in the Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar, County Westmeath, Republic of Ireland, Lowry grew up in Clara, County Offaly. Ferbane Gaelic Footballers
Ferbane (; ) is a town on the north bank of the River Brosna in County Offaly, Ireland, between Birr and Athlone at the junction of the N62 National secondary road and the R436 regional road. The name of the town is said to come from the white bog cotton which grows in the surrounding Bog of Allen. Ireland's first milled-peat fired power station was commissioned by the Electricity Supply Board (ESB) at Ferbane in 1957. Since the station's closure in 2001, the Shannon Development agency and the ESB have invested €1.4 million in a new business and technology park which opened in 2005. The 1981 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 95th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 10 May 1981 and ended on 20 September 1981. Kerry entered the championship as the defending champions and were hoping to win a record-equalling fourth successive championship title. The 1982 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 96th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. Brendan Lowry
Brendan Lowry (born 11 July 1959) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for his local club Ferbane and at senior level for the Offaly county team from 1981 until 1992. Lowry scored 0–3 to help his team to victory in the 1982 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final, the most recent occasion that Offaly won the Sam Maguire Cup. His brothers Mick and Seán also played in the 1982 All-Ireland SFC winning side. Lowry managed the Westmeath senior team between 1997 and 2000. He received a controversial six-month ban (which was later lifted) after protesting against a tackle on Dessie Dolan in the 2000 O'Byrne Cup final.
