Michael Finbarr Cronin (26 September 1902 – 1982) was an Irish hurler who played as a left corner-back at senior level for the Tipperary county team. Cronin made his first appearance for the team during the 1927 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1936 championship. Deverick John "Mick" Cronin (18 March 1911 – 1 September 1979) was an Australian rules football player, umpire and television commentator in Western Australia. Private life Playing career He played 164 games for East Perth from 1930 to 1941 winning the club's fairest and best award in 1931. In 1936 Cronin was made Captain – a role he would hold until the end of the 1940 season. A forceful, energetically dynamic performer, Cronin was just as much at home on the half forward line as in the centre, and it was as a half forward flanker that he represented the Royals in their winning grand final team of 1936. Cronin earned his first Western Australia cap against South Australia in 1933 after being selected as part of the squad for the Sydney Carnival and went on to play 12 games for his state. Michael William Cronin OAM (born 28 June 1951 in Kiama, New South Wales) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer and coach. He was a goal-kicking for the Australian national team and a stalwart for the Parramatta Eels club. He played in 22 Tests and 11 World Cup matches between 1973 and 1982. Cronin retired as the NSWRL Premiership's and the Australian Kangaroos' all-time highest point-scorer and has since been named amongst the nation's finest footballers of the 20th century. Michael Cronin (born 1942) is an English actor. Personal life Born in Cranfield, Bedfordshire during World War II, he was educated at St Brendan's College by the Christian Brothers in Bristol, and at the University of London where he studied English. He is married and has two sons. Acting career Cronin is a television and stage actor, particularly remembered for his role as the tough but fair PE teacher Geoff 'Bullet' Baxter in the television series ''Grange Hill'' between 1979 and 1986. He also made a cameo appearance as Baxter in a 2000 edition of ''The Grimleys''. Michael Anthony Cronin (born 1 October 1960) is an Irish academic specialist in culture, travel literature, translation studies and the Irish language. He is the current holder of the Chair of French (established 1776) at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. Cronin is a member of the Royal Irish Academy. Cronin was a member of the bands Okie Dokie, Epsilons, Party Fowl and Moonhearts, and is a regular and longtime member of Ty Segall's live band, contributing bass guitar, backing vocals and saxophone; he has also released an album and a single in collaboration with Segall.
