Mick Bennett
Michael John "Mick" Bennett (born 8 June 1949, Birmingham) is a British former cyclist and cycle race promoter. Cycling career He won the bronze medal in Team Pursuit in the Cycling at the 1972 Summer Olympics, 1972 Munich and Cycling at the 1976 Summer Olympics, 1976 Montreal Games. He represented England at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games, England in the 1 km time trial, at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland. Four years later he competed in the scratch and pursuit disciplines and won a gold medal in the 4,000 metres team pursuit at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, New Zealand. He was five times a British champion winning the British National Individual Sprint Championships, British National Sprint in 1977 British National Track Championships, 1977, two British National Madison Championships (1973 & 1975) and two British National Individual Time Trial Championships (1971 & 1972). RideLondon is an annual festival of cycling held in London. Intended as an annual legacy of the London 2012, London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, it was first held in 2013. The festival consists of a series of cycling events on closed roads around London and Essex. The London Marathon (also known as the TCS London Marathon for sponsorship reasons) is an annual marathon held in London, England. Founded by athletes Chris Brasher and John Disley in 1981, it is typically held in April, although it moved to October for 2020, 2021, and 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tour Series
The Tour Series is an annual series of cycling criterium races held in the United Kingdom since 2009. It is televised by ITV4 in the UK. The competition emphasises team effort with individual wins deemed less important. The races are held over 1 hour of racing plus 5 laps. The team standings for each round are calculated by adding together the positions of the top three riders of each team (5 riders start for each team) and the team with the lowest score wins, and get 10 points for the overall championship. Each team gets 1 point less than the one in front of them, so second gets 9, third gets 8, and so on. In addition, there is the sprint competition. There are three sprints every race, and the top five riders are awarded points based on place: 1st, 5; 2nd, 4; 3rd, 3; 4th, 2 and 5th, 1. The Tour of Britain is a multi-stage cycling race, conducted on British roads, in which participants race across Great Britain to complete the race in the fastest time. The event dates back to the first British stage races held just after the Second World War. Osgood–Schlatter Disease
Osgood–Schlatter disease (OSD) is inflammation of the patellar ligament at the tibial tuberosity (apophysitis) usually affecting adolescents during growth spurts. It is characterized by a painful bump just below the knee that is worse with activity and better with rest. Episodes of pain typically last a few weeks to months. One or both knees may be affected and flares may recur. Risk factors include overuse, especially sports which involve frequent running or jumping. The underlying mechanism is repeated tension on the growth plate of the upper tibia. Diagnosis is typically based on the symptoms. A plain X-ray may be either normal or show fragmentation in the attachment area. Pain typically resolves with time. Applying cold to the affected area, rest, stretching, and strengthening exercises may help. NSAIDs such as ibuprofen may be used.
