Michelle Lovretta
Michelle Lovretta is a Canadian television writer and producer best known as the creator and executive producer of the television series ''Lost Girl'' and '' Killjoys''. She has also written for ''Instant Star'', ''Relic Hunter'', '' Mutant X'' and '' The Secret Circle''. She was nominated for a Gemini Award in 2011 for Best Writing in a Dramatic Series for ''Lost Girl'', and also in 2006 for Best Writing in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series for the made-for-TV movie '. In 2018 she was nominated for an Aurora Award for Best Visual Presentation for Killjoys Season 3. Lovretta sold a feature film script called '' The Fishing Trip'' when she was 21 and in a screenwriting course at York University. She was selected to be a resident in a TV training program offered by the Canadian Film Centre and run by Norman Jewison in 1999 to teach people how to write for television. Lost Girl
''Lost Girl'' is a Canadian supernatural drama television series that premiered on Showcase on September 12, 2010, and ran for five seasons. It follows the life of a bisexual succubus named Bo, played by Anna Silk, as she learns to control her superhuman abilities, help those in need, and discover the truth about her origins. The series was created by Michelle Lovretta and produced by Jay Firestone and Prodigy Pictures Inc., with the participation of the Canadian Television Fund (Canada Media Fund), and in association with Shaw Media. Following good ratings and positive reviews, it was renewed for a second season on November 12, 2010 (two months after its premiere), with the episodes order afterwards increased to 22 episodes; a third season on December 9, 2011; a fourth season on February 28, 2013;; and a fifth on February 27, 2014. Norman Jewison
Norman Frederick Jewison (July 21, 1926 – January 20, 2024) was a Canadian filmmaker. He was known for directing films which addressed topical Social issue, social and political issues, often making controversial or complicated subjects accessible to mainstream audiences. Among numerous other accolades, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director three times in three separate decades, for ''In the Heat of the Night (film), In the Heat of the Night'' (1967), ''Fiddler on the Roof (film), Fiddler on the Roof'' (1971), and ''Moonstruck'' (1987).
