Michelle King (educator)
Michelle King (March 9, 1961 - February 2, 2019) was an American educator. She was the first black woman to serve as superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the second-largest school district in the United States. She was appointed in January 2016 by the Los Angeles Board of Education. Early life King was born in Los Angeles, California. Her father was an attorney and her mother worked for the county. King attended schools in the district she would eventually lead. She was one of the few black students at Palisades High School, a school with wealthy and mostly white students. Alexander Hamilton High School, also known as Hamilton High School or Hamilton, is a public high school in the Castle Heights neighborhood within the Westside of Los Angeles, California, United States. It is in the Los Angeles Unified School District. It was established in 1931. History Alexander Hamilton High School opened in Fall 1931, with Thomas Hughes Elson as the principal. It was designed by architects John C. Austin and Frederick C. Ashley. The three-story administration building held the administration, library, and science departments and 24 classrooms. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, colloquially referred to as DACA, is a United States immigration policy that allows some individuals with unlawful presence in the United States after being brought to the country as children to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and become eligible for an employment authorization document ( work permit) in the U.S. To be eligible for the program, recipients cannot have felonies or serious misdemeanors on their records. John Edward Deasy (; born 1961 in East Providence, Rhode Island) is an American businessman who served as the superintendent of Stockton Unified School District from June 1, 2018 to June 15, 2020.
