Michel Abboud
Michel Abboud is an architect and artist based in New York. He is the founding principal of SOMA Architects, an architectural firm established in 2004 in New York City. For his sculptures, paintings, and other art, he is represented bOpera Gallery Abboud has won the AIA Gold Medal and the James Beard award in 2015, and is a two-time winner of the Architizer A+ award. In 2010, he was awarded the Park51 Islamic Cultural Center project, infamously dubbed the “Ground Zero Mosque”, with one journalist calling him ‘the most controversial architect the US has known'. The project was ultimately shelved in favor of 45 Park Place, a 665-foot condominium tower also designed by Abboud. SOMA (architects)
SOMA is a New York–based firm of architects founded in 2004, with a portfolio and expertise in refurbishment and sustainability. In 2009, it opened another office in Beirut, Lebanon, where the principal and founder Michel Abboud, was born. SOMA’s work, mainly in New York City, Dubai, Qatar, Erbil, and Lebanon, covers projects across several industries. SOMA architects designed the controversial Park51 Islamic Cultural Center in Manhattan, New York, dubbed the Ground Zero Mosque, the designs to which they unveiled in October 2010. Park51 (originally named Cordoba House) is a development originally envisioned as a 13-story Islamic community center and mosque in Lower Manhattan, New York City. The developers hoped to promote an interfaith dialogue within the greater community. Due to its proposed location, two blocks from the World Trade Center site of the September 11 attacks, the proposed building was widely and controversially referred to as the "Ground Zero mosque". The project would replace an existing 1850s Italianate building that was damaged in the attacks. AIA Gold Medal

Tribeca
Tribeca (), originally written as TriBeCa, is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan in New York City. Its name is a syllabic abbreviation of "Triangle Below Canal Street". The "triangle" (more accurately a quadrilateral) is bounded by Canal Street, West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. By the 2010s, a common marketing tactic was to extend Tribeca's southern boundary to either Vesey or Murray streets to increase the appeal of property listings. Parametric Design
Parametric design is a design method where features (such as building elements and engineering components) are shaped according to algorithmic processes, in contrast to being designed directly. He was a partner at the New York City based architecture firm Hollwich Kushner and co-founded Architizer.
