Michał Marczak
Michał Marczak is a Polish director and cinematographer. Education Marczak studied philosophy at Warsaw University and photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. Career Marczak's feature directorial debut was the 2010 documentary ''At the Edge of Russia''. He followed that film up with the 2012 film '' Fuck for Forest'' which documents the Fuck for Forest movement, a not for profit Norwegian group that creates pornography with the profits going towards environmental causes. After finishing '' Fuck for Forest'' Marczak began looking for his next project. As he entered his 30s he began to feel a difference between his generation and the next one and began to conceive of a documentary that focused on youth born after 1989. Marczak spent several months scouting for locations and meeting people searching for potential subjects. Fuck For Forest
Fuck for Forest (FFF) is a non-profit environmental organisation founded in 2004 in Norway by Leona Johansson and Tommy Hol Ellingsen. It funds itself through a website of sexually explicit videos and photographs, charging a membership fee for access. A portion of funds are donated to the cause of rescuing the world's rainforests. The group moved from Oslo, Norway, to Berlin, Germany, following the trial of its founders for having sex in public. History Fuck for Forest co-founders Leona Johansson and Tommy Hol Ellingsen had backgrounds in progressive and green theater and teaching troubled teens. The two started Fuck for Forest to protest the state of the world's rainforests and to make a difference. In its first six months of existence the group received seed funding from the government of Norway for the creation of an alternative environmental group. ''All These Sleepless Nights'' ( Polish: ''Wszystkie nieprzespane noce'') is a 2016 Polish docufictional film by Michał Marczak. Shot over a year and a half, the film focuses on real life friends Krzysztof Baginski and Michal Huszcza as they party around Warsaw and how their relationship struggles when Baginski begins a relationship with Eva Lebeuf, the French-Polish ex-girlfriend of Huszcza. The film premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival where Marczak won the directing prize in the World Cinema - Documentary category. While the film went on to play various documentary festivals around the world, Marczak was openly indifferent to the idea of categorizing his film as a documentary, giving various interviews in which he talked about how certain scenes in the film were staged.
