Michał Haratyk
Michał Haratyk (born 10 April 1992 in Cieszyn) is a Polish athlete specialising in the shot put. Career He made his international debut at the 2016 World Indoor Championships where he finished distant fourteenth despite having the third-farthest throw that indoor season. Later that year he achieved his biggest success to date by winning the silver medal in Amsterdam at the 2016 European Championships. His Olympic debut, however, was not as successful as he failed to qualify for the final at the Rio Games a month later. He achieved 21.97 metres outdoors at the 2018 IAAF Diamond League meeting in Eugene. His personal best indoors is 21.47 metres (Toruń, 2018). Cieszyn
Cieszyn ( , ; ; ) is a border town in southern Poland on the east bank of the Olza River, and the administrative seat of Cieszyn County, Silesian Voivodeship. 2021 European Team Championships
The 2021 European Athletics Team Championships was held in four cities, on 29–30 May (Super League) and on 19–20 June 2021. For the first time, the ETC was not held on the same weekend for all leagues. At the European Athletics Team Championships medals are not awarded in individual events. Grouping and host cities It had been decided in 2018 that, starting in 2021, a new system would be introduced for grouping teams in the ETC. This would aim to have 8 teams in the Super League (plus the host country if it had not already qualified), 12 teams in the First and Second Leagues, and all the remaining teams in the Third League. The city of Minsk, Belarus, initially designated as the Super League venue, was replaced by Chorzów in November 2020 due to the political situation in Belarus. The men's shot put at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships took place on March 18, 2016. While Andrei Gag and Filip Mihaljevic were the leaders after the first round, in the second round Tomas Walsh took the lead. Any one of his remaining five throws would have won the competition, with a best of 21.78 on his final attempt. 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 16th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics were held between March 17 and 20, 2016 in Portland, Oregon, United States. The event did not feature Russia. Following a WADA investigation into widespread and institutional doping practices in Russian athletics, the IAAF provisionally suspended Russia's membership of the organisation in November 2015, effectively excluding the country both from hosting events and entering competitions.
