Michal Jáně
Michal Jáně (; born 8 July 1986) is a Czech Canoe slalom, slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2002. He won two medals in the C1 team event at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with a silver in 2014 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, 2014 and a bronze in 2010 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, 2010. He also won two silver medals in the same event at the European Canoe Slalom Championships, European Championships. His younger brother Jakub Jáně, Jakub is also a slalom canoeist. Canoe Slalom
Canoe slalom (previously known as whitewater slalom) is a competitive sport with the aim to navigate a Spraydeck, decked canoe or kayak through a course of hanging downstream or upstream gates on Whitewater, river rapids in the fastest time possible. It is one of two kayak and canoeing disciplines at the Summer Olympics, and is referred to by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as Canoe/Kayak Slalom. The other Olympic canoeing discipline is canoe racing, canoe sprint. Wildwater canoeing is a non-Olympic paddlesport. 2010 Canoe Slalom World Cup
The 2010 Canoe Slalom World Cup was a series of five races in 5 canoeing and kayaking categories organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). It was the 23rd edition and it marked the first time that women competed for the single canoe world cup points and title. The series consisted of 2 continental championships (Oceania and Asia) which were open to all countries and 3 world cup races. The athletes gained points for their results in the three world cup races plus their best result from any of the two continental championships. Kraków-Kolna Canoe Slalom Course
The Kraków-Kolna Canoe Slalom Course is an artificial whitewater course in Poland, on the south bank of the Vistula River, in the suburb of Kolna, west of Kraków. It is fed with river water diverted around a nearby dam. The top of the course is a flatwater start pool that is covered in winter by a long white tent. Air inside the tent is heated, but the water is cold. This Olympic-standard slalom course is the site of frequent international competitions. In June 2013, it hosted the European Championships. It is part of a larger complex called the Kolna Sports and Recreation Center (Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji „Kolna") which includes a canal for flatwater sprint canoeing and an indoor gymnasium and swimming pool. The 2018 Canoe Slalom World Cup was a series of five races in 5 canoeing and kayaking categories organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). It was the 31st edition. The men's C2 event was removed from the World Cup program before the start of the season by the ICF and was replaced by the mixed C2 event. This was the first season when points were awarded also for the Extreme K1 events. Calendar The series opened with World Cup Race 1 in Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia (22–24 June) and ended with the World Cup Final in La Seu d'Urgell, Spain (7–9 September) for the traditional canoe slalom events. Ivrea Whitewater Stadium
The Ivrea Whitewater Stadium () is an artificial whitewater sporting facility located in Ivrea, Italy. History The practice of canoeing in Ivrea began in the 1950s. The subsequent founding and growing importance of the local Ivrea Canoe Club led to a long series of efforts aimed at modifying the configuration of a part of the Dora Baltea riverbed near the city center to make it more suitable for the sport, ultimately resulting in the creation of the current whitewater facility. The latest and most relevant work campaigns include the works carried out in 2005 by Ondrej Cibák, which redesigned the slope of the last part of the canal to better distribute the significant drop of the facility. Cardiff International White Water
Cardiff International White Water () is an Olympic standard white water rafting centre based at the Cardiff International Sports Village in Cardiff Bay. The centre opened on 26 March 2010, after taking two years to build the £13.3m venue, which is the first on-demand white water centre in the UK. Prague-Troja Canoeing Centre
The Prague Canoeing Centre is one of the most frequently used venues for international canoe slalom competition. Built in 1983 in Czechoslovakia, it diverts water around a dam at Troja on the Vltava river in Prague. Its two unique features are its use of car and truck tires as flow diverters and its shallow slope, closer to 1% than the usual nearly 2% for such venues. Despite these characteristics, the Troja facility has hosted ten World Cup races and one World Championship in the 21 years 1992–2012, and the 2013 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, 2013 World Championships.
