Michaela Gigon
Michaela Gigon (born 21 March 1977) is an Austrian mountain bike orienteer and several times world champion. She has competed at all World MTB Orienteering Championships from 2002 to 2010, won individual gold medals in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010, and in relay in 2009. Mountain bike orienteering career Gigon competed at the very first World MTB Orienteering Championships in Fontainebleau in 2002, where she placed fifth in the sprint and eighth in the long distance. At the 2004 World Championships in Ballarat in 2004 she won the middle distance ahead of Laure Coupat and Belinda Allison, placed seventh in the long distance, and won a silver medal in the relay behind the Finnish team. At the 2005 World Championships in Banska Bystrica she won the middle distance and placed fourth in the long distance. Mountain Bike Orienteering
Mountain bike orienteering (MTB-O or MTBO) is an orienteering endurance racing sport on a mountain bike where navigation is done along trails and tracks. Compared with foot orienteering, competitors usually are not permitted to leave the trail and track network. Navigation tactics are similar to ski-orienteering, where the major focus is route choice while navigating. The main difference compared to ski-orienteering is that navigation is done at a higher pace, because the bike can reach higher speeds. As the biker reaches higher speeds, map reading becomes more challenging. Equipment Preferred bike type is a robust mountain bike meant for cross-country cycling, but any type of bike can be used. Depending on terrain type either hard tailed or full suspension mountain bikes are more appropriate. Nove Mesto Na Morave
Nove is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Vicenza in the region of Veneto, north-eastern Italy, with just over 5,000 inhabitants. It is located on the Brenta river, near Marostica and Bassano del Grappa. The town is home of a local network of ceramic industries. The name of the town comes from the antique Italian ''nove'', in the meaning of "new". As matter of fact, the lands where the town is located were considered new because of the lowering of the level of the Brenta. The lowering of the river revealed soft lands rich of clay. A mountain is an elevated portion of the Earth's crust, generally with steep sides that show significant exposed bedrock. Although definitions vary, a mountain may differ from a plateau in having a limited summit area, and is usually higher than a hill, typically rising at least 300 metres (1,000 feet) above the surrounding land. Female (symbol: ♀) is the sex of an organism that produces the large non-motile ova (egg cells), the type of gamete (sex cell) that fuses with the male gamete during sexual reproduction. Foot Orienteering
Foot orienteering (usually referred to as simply Orienteering or FootO for short) is the oldest formal orienteering sport, and the one with the most "starts" per year. Usually, a FootO is a timed race in which participants start at staggered intervals, are individually timed, and are expected to perform all navigation on their own. The control points are shown on the orienteering map and must be visited in the specified order.
