Bahamas National Cricket Team
The Bahamas national cricket team is the team that represents The Bahamas in international cricket. The team is organised by the Bahamas Cricket Association (BCA), which became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1987 and an associate member in 2017. The national team is first recorded as playing in 1983, but did not feature in an international tournament until 2001, when it played in the inaugural Americas Affiliates Championship. Since then, the Bahamas have regularly participated in ICC Americas tournaments, as well as on one occasion in a World Cricket League event (the 2010 Division Eight tournament). Test cricket is a form of first-class cricket played at international level between teams representing full member countries of the International Cricket Council (ICC). A match consists of four innings (two per team) and is scheduled to last for up to five days. In the past, some Test matches had no time limit and were called Timeless Tests. Vibart Wight
Claude Vibart Wight (28 July 1902 – 4 October 1969) was a West Indian cricketer who played two Tests in the 1920s and 1930s. Wight was born in Georgetown, British Guiana and made his first-class debut in 1925. He was a useful middle-order batsman and an occasional bowler who represented British Guiana against the visiting M.C.C. in February 1926 and a few days later he represented the West Indies, not then a Test playing nation, against the same tourists, scoring 90 in the second match and sharing a seventh-wicket partnership of 173 with Snuffy Browne. In 1928, despite having no leadership experience, Wight was appointed vice-captain for West Indies’ first Test visit and series against England. It was not a successful tour for Wight, scoring just 343 runs (average 20.17) but he made his Test debut in the third match of the series played at the Oval, scoring 23 and 12 not out. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). World Cricket League
The ICC World Cricket League (WCL) was a series of international one-day cricket tournaments for national teams without Test status (i.e., teams of Associate status) administered by the International Cricket Council. All Associate Members of the ICC were eligible to compete in the league system, which featured a promotion and relegation structure between divisions. The league system had two main aims: to provide a qualification system for the Cricket World Cup that could be accessed by all Associate Members and as an opportunity for these sides to play international one-day matches against teams of similar standards.
