Michael Tschesno-Hell
Michael Tschesno-Hell (17 February 1902 – 24 February 1980) was a screenwriter and cultural official of the Deutsche Demokratische Republik. Life Born in Vilnius, Hell came from an impoverished petit bourgeois family that had emigrated to Germany after the First World War. He joined communist associations in his youth. He later studied law at the universities of Jena and Leipzig and in 1922 joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). During the Weimar Republic, Hell worked for various communist newspapers, as a translator and as a factory and farm worker. After the ''Machtergreifung'' by the Nazis, he fled with his wife to France and later via the Netherlands to Switzerland, where he lived until 1945. Here he became, together with Stephan Hermlin and Hans Mayer publisher of the publication ''Über die Grenzen''. At the end of the war, he returned to the Soviet Occupation Zone and was appointed vice-president of the "Central Administration for Resettlers" in 1945. In 1947, ... Karl Marx Order
The Order of Karl Marx () was the most important order in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The award of the order also included a prize of 20,000 East German marks. The order was founded on May 5, 1953 on the occasion of Karl Marx's 135th birthday during Karl Marx Year and on the recommendation of the GDR Council of Ministers. It was granted to individuals, enterprises, organizations, and military groups for exceptional merit in relation to ideology, culture, economy, and other designations. Additionally, citizens of other countries could also be awarded the order. Ralph Hammerthaler
Ralph Hammerthaler (born 2 December 1965) is a German writer. Life Born in Wasserburg am Inn, Hammerthaler studied in Munich, Berlin and Jena and wrote a dissertation on political public sphere in sociology. After eight years as a writer in the feature section of the ''Süddeutsche Zeitung'', including two years as culture editor in Berlin, he began writing novels, stories and essays as well as plays and opera libretti. His libretto ''Die Bestmannoper'' about the Nazi war criminal Alois Brunner was set to music by Alex Nowitz and premiered in 2006 in the presence of Serge and Beate Klarsfeld. His plays have been translated into several languages. He was a guest dramaturge at the ''Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz'' and he is Socio Honorario of the Teatro Sombrero Azul in Mexico City. He was city writer in Dresden, Rheinsberg, Prishtina and Split as well as street writers in Oberhausen. His literary work has won many awards. Bernd-Rainer Barth (born East Berlin 1957) is a German historian of the modern period. Solange Leben in mir ist (English: As Long As There's Life in Me) is a 1965 German biopic from the East German state-owned DEFA studios and director Günter Reisch following the life of the German Communist leader Karl Liebknecht during the first half of World War I. ''Ernst Thälmann'' is an East German film in two parts about the life of Ernst Thälmann, leader of the Communist Party of Germany during much of the Weimar Republic, directed by Kurt Maetzig and starring Günther Simon in the title role. The first part, ''Ernst Thälmann - Sohn seiner Klasse'' (Son of his Class), was released in 1954. It was followed by the 1955 sequel. ''Ernst Thälmann - Führer seiner Klasse'' (Leader of his Class).
