Michael Truman
Michael Truman (25 February 1916, in Bristol, England – 11 July 1972, in Newbury, Berkshire) was a British film producer, director and editor. Educated at London University, he worked for Ealing Studios editing such films as '' It Always Rains on Sunday'' (1947) and ''Passport to Pimlico'' (1949) and latterly as producer of films like ''The Titfield Thunderbolt'' (1953). As a director, he mainly worked in television on such series as ''Danger Man''. In November 1956 it was announced he would adapt H.E. Bates' ''The Jacaranda Tree'' for Ealing-MGM, about the evacuation of British civilians in Burma. However it appears this film was not made. British Film Editors
''British Film Editors'' (BFE) is a not-for profit honorary society of professional British Film and Television Editors. BFE was formed by some 40 British film editors in 1966. Originally named the Guild of British Film Editors (GBFE), as more television programmes – particularly dramas and drama series – were pre-recorded rather than broadcast live its membership very soon included editors working in television as well. In 2005, when the advance of digital recording and editing meant that very few editors were actually working with film at all, the name was changed to the Guild of British Film and Television Editors. At the same time the motto “Crafting the Moving Image” was added to the logo to reflect these changes. In 2020, the name was changed to British Film Editors to underline that the rapid differentiation in screen culture - from mediums to platforms - is nevertheless rooted in 'motion image'. Peter Yates
Peter James Yates (24 July 1929 – 9 January 2011) was an English film director and producer. He was known for making films in a wide variety of genres, including the Steve McQueen police thriller film '' Bullitt'' in 1968. He received nominations for four Academy Awards (twice for Best Director and Best Picture), three BAFTA Awards, and two Golden Globe Awards. Originally training as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Yates entered the film industry as an assistant director for top directors like Tony Richardson. After directing television programmes like '' The Saint'' and '' Danger Man'', Yates made a breakthrough helming the heist film ''Robbery'' (1967). ''Daylight Robbery'' is a 1964 British film directed by Michael Truman and starring Janet Munro, Gordon Jackson and Zena Walker. It was written by Dermot Quinn and distributed by the Children's Film Foundation. Its plot concerns a group of kids who foil bank robbers. Plot Three children, Trudy, Janet and Kirk, visit a department store. They are followed by Trudy, whose mother has forbidden her to play with them. As a prank, and to shock Trudy, Kirk steals a battery, although he intends to return it later. The Saint (TV Series)
''The Saint'' is a British crime television series that aired in the United Kingdom on ITV between 1962 and 1969. It was based on the literary character Simon Templar created by Leslie Charteris in the 1920s and featured in many novels over the years. In the television series, Templar was played by Roger Moore. Templar helps those whom conventional agencies are powerless or unwilling to protect, often using methods that skirt the law. Chief Inspector Claud Eustace Teal is his nominal nemesis who considers Templar a common criminal, but often grudgingly tolerates his actions for the greater good. NBC picked up the show as a summer replacement in its evening schedule in 1966 because of the strong performance in the United States of the first two series in first-run syndication.
