Michael Touhey (piper)
Michael J. Touhey (November 30, 1844 — March 22, 1904) was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Biography Touhey was born on November 30, 1844 in County Clare, Ireland and emigrated to the United States in 1847. His family settled in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin and, in 1868, in Brown County, Wisconsin, where Touhey was engaged in farming and took an active interest in public affairs. Touhey was twice elected to represent his district in the Wisconsin state legislature, including in 1877. Other positions he held included member of the Town Board (similar to a city council) of Morrison, Wisconsin. Touhey was a Democrat. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Since 1973, the state has been divided into 99 Assembly districts apportioned amongst the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 99 representatives. Bessemer is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 1,805. It is the county seat of Gogebic County.
