Rock Music
Rock is a Music genre, genre of popular music that originated in the United States as "rock and roll" in the late 1940s and early 1950s, developing into a range of styles from the mid-1960s, primarily in the United States and the United Kingdom. It has its roots in rock and roll, a style that drew from the black musical genres of blues and rhythm and blues, as well as from country music. Rock also drew strongly from genres such as electric blues and folk music, folk, and incorporated influences from jazz and other styles. Rock is typically centered on the electric guitar, usually as part of a rock group with electric bass guitar, drum kit, drums, and one or more singers. Usually, rock is song-based music with a Time signature, time signature and using a verse–chorus form; however, the genre has become extremely diverse. Like pop music, lyrics often stress romantic love but also address a wide variety of other themes that are frequently social or political. Rock was the most p ...

OK Hotel Reunion - Michael Shrieve 03 (25248504000)
''OK'' (), with spelling variations including ''okay'', ''okeh'', ''O.K.'' and many others, is an English word (originating in American English) denoting approval, acceptance, agreement, assent, acknowledgment, or a sign of indifference. ''OK'' is frequently used as a loanword in other languages. It has been described as the most frequently spoken or written word on the planet. The origin of ''OK'' is disputed; however, most modern reference works hold that it originated around Boston as part of a fad in the late 1830s of abbreviating misspellings; that it is an initialism of "oll korrect" as a misspelling of "all correct". This origin was first described by linguist Allen Walker Read in the 1960s. As an adjective, ''OK'' principally means "adequate" or "acceptable" as a contrast to "bad" ("The boss approved this, so it is OK to send out"); it can also mean "mediocre" when used in contrast with "good" ("The french fries were great, but the burger was just OK"). It fulfills a ...

Todd Cochran
Todd Cochran (born September 3, 1951) is an American pianist, composer, keyboardist, essayist, and conceptual artist. Early in his career he was also professionally known as Bayeté. Cochran started his career as a teenager with saxophonist John Handy. Two years later he joined vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson’s Quartet, and made his jazz recording debut composing and performing on a benchmark album for Hutcherson, "Head On" (on Blue Note Records) that featured a nineteen-piece ensemble. The recording was critically hailed as cross-pollinating the evolving contemporary modal jazz, avant-garde sound of the 1970s. Cochran’s first solo project "Worlds Around the Sun" became a #1 jazz album and marked his entree into the jazz discussion. From the mid-1970s forward Todd has experimented with and incorporated synthesizers, electronic and mixed-media concepts in his creative projects while collaborating with a wide range of artists in the genres of jazz, art rock, pop, R&B, and twenty-fi ...

Borboletta
''Borboletta'' is the sixth studio album by the American Latin rock band Santana. It is one of their jazz-funk-fusion oriented albums, along with ''Caravanserai'' (1972), and ''Welcome'' (1973). Non-band albums by Carlos Santana in this style also include ''Love Devotion Surrender'' (1973) with John McLaughlin and '' Illuminations'' (1974) with Alice Coltrane, Jack DeJohnette and Jules Broussard. The guitarist leaves much room to percussion, saxophone and keyboards to set moods ("Spring Manifestations"), as well as lengthy solos by himself ("Promise of a Fisherman") and vocals ("Give and Take", a funky guitar-led song). The record was released in a metallic blue sleeve displaying a butterfly, an allusion to the album '' Butterfly Dreams'' (1973) by Brazilian musician Flora Purim and her husband Airto Moreira, whose contributions deeply influenced the sound of ''Borboletta''. In Portuguese, ''borboleta'' means "butterfly". Original bassist David Brown returned to replace Doug R ...

Welcome (Santana Album)
''Welcome'' is the fifth studio album by Santana, released in 1973. It followed the jazz-fusion formula that the preceding ''Caravanserai'' had inaugurated, but with an expanded and different lineup this time. Gregg Rolie had left the band along with Neal Schon to form Journey, and they were replaced by Tom Coster, Richard Kermode and Leon Thomas, along with guest John McLaughlin, who had collaborated with Carlos Santana on ''Love Devotion Surrender''. ''Welcome'' also featured John Coltrane's widow, Alice, as a pianist on the album's opening track, "Going Home" and Flora Purim (the wife of Airto Moreira) on vocals. This album was far more experimental than the first four albums, and ''Welcome'' did not produce any hit singles. In 2003, the album was re-released with a bonus track, "Mantra", described by AllMusic reviewer Thom Jurek as "a killer improv tune with a ferocious bass solo by Rauch and insane drumming by Shrieve." Reception Writing for ''Rolling Stone'', Robert Palm ...

Caravanserai (album)
''Caravanserai'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band Santana, released on October 11, 1972, by Columbia and CBS. The album marked a period of transition for Santana as it was the band's last to feature several key early members, while shifting in a more instrumental, progressive jazz fusion direction. It sold in fewer quantities than the band's previous chart-topping albums, stalling at No. 8 on the ''Billboard'' Top LP's & Tape chart, but has been critically acclaimed. Release and promotion The album was mixed and released in both stereo and quadraphonic. It was released on October 11, 1972. The album was supported with a tour, which spanned the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Oceania and lasted from September 1972 to December 1973. The shows on July 3 and 4, 1973 at the Osaka Kosei Nenkin Kaikan in Osaka, Japan, were released as the triple vinyl LP '' Lotus''. The inner cover carried a quote by Paramahansa Yogananda: In 2000 SME records in Japan, part of Sony ...

Santana III
''Santana'' is the third studio album by the American rock band Santana, released on September 24, 1971, by Columbia Records. The band's second self-titled album, it is often referred to as ''III'' or ''Santana III'' to distinguish it from the band's 1969 debut album. The album was also known as ''Man with an Outstretched Hand'', after its album cover image. It was the third and last album by the Woodstock-era lineup, until their reunion on ''Santana IV'' in 2016. It was also considered by many to be the band's peak commercially and musically, as subsequent releases aimed towards more experimental jazz fusion and Latin music. The album also marked the addition of 16-year-old guitarist Neal Schon to the group. Release and reception The original album was recorded at Columbia Studios, San Francisco, and released in both stereo and quadraphonic. The album featured two singles that charted in the United States. "Everybody's Everything" peaked at No. 12 in October 1971, while " No ...

Abraxas (album)
''Abraxas'' is the second studio album by American Latin rock band Santana. It was released on September 23, 1970, by Columbia Records and became the band's first album to top the ''Billboard'' 200 in the United States. In 2020, ''Rolling Stone'' magazine ranked the album number 334 on its list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". Title The title of the album originates from a line in Hermann Hesse's 1919 book ''Demian'', quoted on the album's back cover: "We stood before it and began to freeze inside from the exertion. We questioned the painting, berated it, made love to it, prayed to it: We called it mother, called it whore and slut, called it our beloved, called it Abraxas..." Songs Carlos Santana had been interested in Fleetwood Mac's leader and songwriter Peter Green, having seen him perform at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, and decided to cover the band's song " Black Magic Woman" (both had also been influenced as guitarists by B.B. King). The band added a ...

Santana (1969 Album)
''Santana'' is the debut studio album by American Latin rock band Santana, released on August 22, 1969, by Columbia Records. Over half of the album's length is composed of instrumental music, recorded by what was originally a purely free-form jam band. At the suggestion of manager Bill Graham, the band took to writing more conventional songs for more impact, but managed to retain the essence of improvisation in the music. The album was destined to be a major release, given a boost by the band's performance at the Woodstock Festival earlier that August. The album's first single, " Jingo", was only a modest performer, spending eight weeks on the chart and reaching #56; however, " Evil Ways", the second single taken from the album, was a U.S. Top 10 hit, reaching #9 and spending thirteen weeks on the chart. The album spent more than two years (108 weeks) on the ''Billboard'' Top LPs chart and peaked at #4 in November 1969. It also reached #34 on the UK Albums Chart. It has been mi ...
