Michael Shelley (runner)
Michael Shelley (born 10 October 1983) is an Australian long-distance runner who competes in track events and road races. He has won gold medals in the marathon event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, Scotland, as well as the 2018 Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast, Australia. He has also represented Australia at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships and the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. On the road, he has won at the Gold Coast Half Marathon and the City2Surf race in Sydney. Career Born in Gold Coast, Queensland, Shelley made his first international appearance at the 2002 World Junior Championships in Athletics. He had set a career best of 9:08.28 for the 3000 metres steeplechase earlier that year but did not manage to progress beyond the heats at the competition. He soon changed his focus to the 1500 metres instead and set a personal best of 3:39.90 before going on to take third at the 2003 Australian Athletics Championships. Michael Shelley (mathematician)
Michael J. Shelley (born August 17, 1959) is an American applied mathematician who works on the modeling and simulation of complex systems arising in physics and biology. This has included free-boundary problems in fluids and materials science, singularity formation in partial differential equations, modeling visual perception in the primary visual cortex, dynamics of complex and active fluids, cellular biophysics, and fluid-structure interaction problems such as the flapping of flags, stream-lining in nature, and flapping flight. He is also the co-founder and co-director of the Courant Institute's Applied Mathematics Lab. Shelley was born in La Junta, Colorado. He holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of Colorado (1981) and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Arizona (1985). 4 × 880 Yard Relay At The NCAA Division I Indoor Track And Field Championships
4 (four) is a number, numeral and digit. It is the natural number following 3 and preceding 5. It is a square number, the smallest semiprime and composite number, and is considered unlucky in many East Asian cultures. Evolution of the Hindu-Arabic digit Brahmic numerals represented 1, 2, and 3 with as many lines. 4 was simplified by joining its four lines into a cross that looks like the modern plus sign. The Shunga would add a horizontal line on top of the digit, and the Kshatrapa and Pallava evolved the digit to a point where the speed of writing was a secondary concern. The Arabs' 4 still had the early concept of the cross, but for the sake of efficiency, was made in one stroke by connecting the "western" end to the "northern" end; the "eastern" end was finished off with a curve. Michael Schelle (pronounced ''Shelley''; born January 22, 1950, in Philadelphia), is a composer of contemporary concert music. He is also a performer, conductor, author, and teacher. Background Schelle grew up in Bergen County, in northern New Jersey, where he studied piano and conducting with Walter Schroeder. After receiving a pre-collegiate certificate from the Trinity College of Music in London, he changed direction for a B.A. in theatre and philosophy from Villanova University (PA). During his four years at Villanova, Schelle was the keyboard player in various regional rock bands, and also ''Composer in Residence'' for the Villanova Graduate Theatre, scoring productions of ''Waiting for Godot'', ''Rhinoceros'', and other modernist classics directed by Irene Baird and David Rabe. Mike Shelley
Mike Shelley (born 13 March 1972 in Leeds) is a former rugby union player who became the longest serving player in the history of Leeds Tykes rugby club, having joined them in 1996 from West Hartlepool. He made his Tykes debut against Otley RUFC on 31 August 1996. At the end of the 2005–06 season, despite being due a testimonial, he made the decision to retire after 10 years and 244 appearances for the club. Shelley was made captain for the 2000–01 season, a role he continued until the 2003–04 campaign. That campaign saw Shelley reach the 200 appearance mark for the Tykes and he enjoyed one of his proudest moments for the club when he lifted the Powergen Cup after their win over Bath Rugby at Twickenham in 2005. Although Iain Balshaw was the official captain on that day, he went off injured early in the game and Shelley took the on-field captaincy.
