Michael Rank (musician)
Michael Rank, born as Michael Rankow, is an American musician and singer-songwriter from Chatham County, North Carolina. He was a founding member of Snatches of Pink and Clarissa, but is now a solo artist. Early life Rank was born in Manhattan, New York. He was raised in Katonah, New York, but moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina when he was twelve-years-old in 1977. The first concert he attended was the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band when he was nine or ten. The next concert he attended Kiss at Madison Square Gardens. He says he slept through part of the first concert, but of the latter, he says, "That one changed my life." Rank started playing guitar in 1985. His preferred guitar in 1990 was a Gibson Firebird. Kiss (commonly styled as KISS) was an American rock music, rock band formed in New York City in 1973 by Paul Stanley (vocals, rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (vocals, bass guitar), Ace Frehley (lead guitar, vocals) and Peter Criss (drums, vocals). Known for their face paint and stage outfits, the group rose to prominence in the mid-1970s with shock rock–style live performances which featured fire-breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits and pyrotechnics. Soul Asylum
Soul Asylum is an American rock band formed in 1981 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their 1993 hit " Runaway Train" won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. The band was originally called Loud Fast Rules, with a lineup consisting of Dave Pirner, Dan Murphy, Karl Mueller, and Pat Morley. They changed their name to Soul Asylum in 1983. Morley was replaced by Grant Young in 1984. The band recorded three albums with Twin/Tone Records and two with A&M Records, with little commercial success. In 1992, they released the triple-platinum album '' Grave Dancers Union'', featuring "Runaway Train". The band played at the inauguration of President Bill Clinton early the next year. Ramones
The Ramones were an American punk rock band formed in the New York City neighborhood Forest Hills, Queens in 1974. Known for helping establish the punk movement in the United States and elsewhere, the Ramones are often recognized as one of the first bands of the genre. The Cramps
The Cramps were an American rock band formed in 1976 and active until 2009. Their lineup rotated frequently during their existence, with the husband-and-wife duo of singer Lux Interior and guitarist Poison Ivy the only ever-present members. The band are credited as progenitors of the psychobilly subgenre, fusing elements of punk rock with rockabilly. The Replacements (band)
The Replacements were an American rock music, rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1979. The band was composed of the guitarist and vocalist Paul Westerberg, guitarist Bob Stinson, bass guitarist Tommy Stinson, and drummer Chris Mars for most of its existence.
