Michael Nettlefold
Michael Colin Nettlefold (born 28 July 1959) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda and Fitzroy Football Clubs in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and has moved into football management, serving as the chief executive officer of St Kilda before moving to the chairmanship of Vivid Sports. Nettlefold, who spent most of his time on the wing and at half forward, was a prolific handballer. He was offloaded to Fitzroy during the 1983 VFL season due to financial pressures and appeared in two finals in 1983. He retired from league football at the age of just 26 to concentrate on a business career, including outdoor advertising. The St Kilda Football Club, nicknamed the Saints, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Melbourne, Victoria. The club plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier league. Fitzroy Football Club
The Fitzroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). Formed in 1883 to represent the inner-Melbourne municipality of Fitzroy, the club was a member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA), before becoming a foundation member of the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL/AFL) in 1897. Fitzroy won a total of eight VFL premierships, of which seven (1898, 1899, 1904, 1905, 1913, 1916 and 1922) were won whilst they were nicknamed the Maroons and one (1944) as the Gorillas. 1983 VFL Season
The 1983 VFL season was the 87th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 26 March until 24 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top five clubs. Prior to the season, the South Melbourne Football Club, which had played its home games in Sydney, New South Wales in 1982, formally relocated its operations to Sydney and was renamed the Sydney Swans. North Melbourne Football Club
The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Albert Joseph Mantello (30 April 1934 – 26 September 2021) was a former Italian- Australian rules footballer who played for North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A strongly built and physical footballer, Mantello usually played as either a half back flanker or centreman.
