Michael McNamara is an Irish Gaelic footballer. He currently plays for the Sligo county team. In his first year with it, the team won the Connacht Championship for the first time since 1975 after beating Galway. Michael McNamara (born 1 March 1974) is an Irish independent politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Clare constituency since the 2020 general election, and previously from 2011 to 2016. He was appointed Chair of the Special Committee on the COVID-19 Response in September 2020. He was elected as a Labour Party TD for Clare at the 2011 general election. He was a member of the Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine, and a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from 2011 to 2016. McNamara is a barrister and has worked at the OSCE and on human rights and democracy projects of the European Union and United Nations. He was an unsuccessful Independent candidate at the 2009 European Parliament election for the North-West constituency. Mike McNamara
Michael McNamara (born 1949) is an Irish former hurling manager and former player. He played hurling with his local club Scariff from the 1960s until the 1980s. McNamara is also a publican and night club owner in Scariff and served as manager of the Offaly and Clare senior inter-county teams. Managerial career Offaly McNamara was appointed manager of the Offaly senior hurling team in November 2002. In his first season in charge, his team lost to Wexford in the Leinster semi-final on a scoreline of 0–16 to 1–12. In the subsequent qualifying campaign, Offaly overcame Dublin and Limerick to qualify for an All Ireland quarter final against Tipperary. They lost this match 2–16 to 2–11 after a relatively poor display. The following year, 2004, Offaly reached a Leinster final, only to be beaten by Wexford for the second successive year on a scoreline of 2–12 to 1–11.
