Michael McGee (Gaelic Footballer)
Michael "Mickey" McGee is a former Gaelic footballer who played for the Loughmacrory club and the Tyrone county team. Awards McGee has three All-Ireland Senior Football Championship winners' medals. He brought the first All-Ireland senior championship medal to his club, Loughmacrory, in 2003, the year Tyrone made the breakthrough at county senior level, and he won an All-Ireland minor medal with the county in 1998. From there he progressed to the Under-21 grade where he won two All-Ireland Under-21 championships in 2000 and 2001. Gaelic football (; short name '')'', commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA, or football, is an Irish team sport. A form of football, it is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or palming the ball into the other team's Goal (sport), goal (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goal and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the ball up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). Loughmacrory
Loughmacrory (AKA the lough)( ; ) is a village and townland (of 1651 acres) in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The village is situated 8 miles (13 km) east of Omagh in the historic barony of Omagh East and the civil parish of Termonmaguirk. it had a population of 237 in the 2001 Census. Loughmacrory has houses, shops, a church and a primary school. There is also an old mill and ancient cairns nearby. Loughmacrory is part of the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area. The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) () is the premier inter-county competition in Gaelic football. County (Gaelic games), County teams compete against each other and the winner is declared All-Ireland Champions. Organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), the championship has been contested every year except one since 1887 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, 1887. The Sam Maguire Cup (), often referred to as Sam or The Sam, is a trophy awarded annually by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) to the team that wins the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the main competition in the sport of Gaelic football. The Sam Maguire Cup was first presented to Kildare, winners of the 1928 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final.
