Michael Lobo (politician)
Michael Vincent Lobo (born 18 June 1976) is an Indian politician and businessman who is a former member of the Indian National Congress (INC) and a MLA of the Goa Legislative Assembly from Calangute since 2012. He is also the former Leader of Opposition of INC in the Goa Legislative Assembly. Lobo opposed the opening of India's first Playboy club in Candolim. Lobo resigned as Member of Legislative Assembly for Calangute under Bhartiya Janta Party. He then joined Indian National Congress and was made a candidate for the 2022 Goa Legislative Assembly election for Calangute. He then defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party after the elections. Early life Michael Vincent Lobo was born on 18 June 1976 to Melchiades Vincent Lobo and Almira Lobo in Mapusa town, North Goa. Playboy Club
The Playboy Club was initially a chain of nightclubs and resorts owned and operated by Playboy Enterprises. The first Playboy Club opened in Chicago in 1960. Each club generally featured a Living Room, a Playmate Bar, a Dining Room, and a Club Room. Members and their guests were served food and drinks by Playboy Bunnies, some of whom were featured in ''Playboy'' magazine. The clubs offered name entertainers and comedians in the Club Rooms, and local musicians and the occasional close-up magician in the Living Rooms. Starting with the London and Jamaica club locations, the Playboy Club became international in scope. In 1991, the club chain became defunct. Panaji (; , , )also known as Panjim, is the capital of the Indian state of Goa and the headquarters of North Goa district. Previously, it was the territorial capital of the former Portuguese India. Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) is an apolitical non-partisan nonprofit organisation in India, working on electoral and political reforms for over 25 years. 2012 Goa Legislative Assembly Election
The Goa legislative assembly election was held on 3 March 2012, to select the 40 members of the Sixth Goa Legislative Assembly, as the term of 5th Goa Legislative Assembly ended in March 2012. The result was announced on 6 March. The Bharatiya Janata Party- Maharashtrawadi Gomantak alliance defeated the incumbent Indian National Congress government in Goa led by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat with 24 seats in the 40-seat assembly. The Bharatiya Janata Party won 21 seats, while the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party won 3 seats. The MLA with the biggest margin of victory was the incumbent MLA Frances D'Souza of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
