Michael Lam
Michael Lam Wai-Leung () is a former Hong Kong film actor. He has appeared in numerous films, in several of which he has played the lead role. He first appeared in the film ''The Night Rider''. Lam took his first lead role in the Hong Kong-Singapore co-produced film '' Bugis Street'', made in 1995 and directed by award-winning director Yonfan, where he played the role of Meng. Bugis Street (film)
''Bugis Street'' (妖街皇后) is a 1995 directed by Yonfan, about the lives of Singaporean transvestites in a bygone era. A Hong Kong-Singaporean co-production, it was a minor hit at the box office with a sexually-explicit R(A) (in short as Restricted (Artistic)) rating, male full-frontal nudity and its nostalgic evocation of a seedy but colourful aspect of Singaporean culture, prior to the redevelopment of Bugis Street into a modern shopping district and the eradication of transvestite activities in the area. Yonfan
Yonfan (born 14 October 1947) is a Hong Kong film director and photographer. Biography He was born in Wuhan, Hubei, Republic of China (1912–49), Republic of China. As the Yang family emigrated from mainland China, they lived first in Hong Kong for 3 years, and then moved to Taiwan when Yonfan was 5 years old. He spent most of his childhood and adolescence in Taichung, Taiwan, and returned to Hong Kong in 1964 as a 17-year-old man to work as a photographer, but left for the United States in 1968 to study film. After a couple of years travelling through the United States, France and Britain, he returned to Hong Kong in 1973, and became a photographer noted for his celebrity portraits. In 1984, he made his box office debut as a director with ''A Certain Romance (film), A Certain Romance''. Tsz Shan Monastery (慈山寺) is a prominent Buddhist temple situated in Tung Tsz, Tai Po District, Hong Kong. The monastery is notable for its 76-meter tall bronze-cast statue of Cintāmaṇicakra, Ruyilun Guanyin, an esoteric manifestation of the Bodhisattva Guanyin.
