Mike Kelly (Alaska Politician)
Michael Patrick Kelly (May 6, 1942 – December 7, 2016) was a Republican member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing the 7th District from 2005 until 2011. In the 26th Alaska State Legislature, he served on the Finance Committee, chairing the Corrections and the Natural Resources Finance Subcommittee. He also served on the Fish & Game Finance Subcommittee. Prior to politics Mike Kelly was born on May 6, 1942, in Tacoma, Washington, the oldest of seven children of Halford "Hal" and Helen Kelly. Hal Kelly moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, in late 1947; his family moved to Fairbanks the following year. Mike Kelly graduated from Monroe High School in 1960. Kelly retired as the president and CEO of GVEA in 2000, and was working as a commuter airline pilot for Tanana Air Service at the time of his election to the State House. Mike Kelly (born January 26, 1948) is a former American football coach. He was the head football coach at the University of Dayton from 1981 to 2007. In 27 years as the head coach at Dayton, he compiled a record of 246–54–1. He led the Dayton Flyers to the NCAA Division III Football Championship in 1989 and appearances in the title game three other times, in 1981, 1987, and 1991. Kelly ranks among the top 25 college football coaches of all time in winning percentage (.819). Among coaches with at least 25 years of experience, he has the fifth best winning percentage of all time. Michael Kelly (25 December 1762 – 9 October 1826) was an Irish tenor, composer and theatrical manager who made an international career of importance in musical history. One of the leading figures in British musical theatre around the turn of the nineteenth century, he was a close associate of playwright and poet Richard Brinsley Sheridan. He also became friends with musicians such as Mozart and Paisiello, and created roles for the operas of both composers. With his friend and fellow singer Nancy Storace, he was one of the first tenors of that era from Britain and Ireland to become famous in Italy and Austria. In Italy he was also known as O'Kelly or even Signor Ochelli. Blockbuster LLC, formerly known as Blockbuster Video, was an American-based provider of home video and video game rental services. Michael Eugene Kelly (6 October 1949 – 22 December 2013) was a dual citizen of the U.S. and Mexico who operated a number of fraudulent resort enterprises and the Avanti Motor Corporation. In 2007, with 23 others, he was accused by the FBI and the United States Attorney's Office of operating an enormous Ponzi scheme that defrauded over a thousand elderly and senior citizens of their retirement money. It was later disclosed that 7,000 victims from throughout the U.S. lost more than $342 million. Fraud charges Kelly was arrested at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota on December 22, 2006. He claimed to earn $55,000 a year and had only $48,000 in assets, yet he offered a private jet, four yachts and a race track as collateral at his detention hearing. Michael Kelly is an American college athletics administrator. He is currently the athletic director at the University of South Florida, a position he has held since 2018, as well as a member of the NCAA Division I Council since 2021. Prior to becoming the AD at USF, Kelly served in many high level positions throughout college athletics, including as associate commissioner of the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Chief Operating Officer for the College Football Playoff. Michael Kelly (24 September 1929 – 26 October 2011) was an Irish people, Irish hurling, hurler who played as a left wing-forward for the Kilkenny GAA, Kilkenny senior team from 1952 until 1960. Mike Kelly (born January 17, 1960) is a Canadian ice hockey coach and executive. Since 2017, he has served as director of hockey operations of the Oshawa Generals in the Ontario Hockey League. After an amateur playing career with the Fredericton-based UNB Varsity Reds of the Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union, Kelly joined the Ontario Hockey League's (OHL) London Knights as an assistant coach in 1988. He eventually became the head coach of the OHL's Windsor Spitfires in 1994. He returned to UNB in 1996 as head coach, where lead the team to a University Cup appearance in 1997 and won it in 1998. Michael Kelly (born 1960s) is a former Gaelic footballer who played as goalkeeper for Four Masters and the Donegal county team.
