Michael Katz (born December 2, 1939) is an American sportswriter. History Katz was born in the Bronx in New York in 1939. After leaving high school he was accepted into City College of New York and while there wrote for the college newspaper, ''The Campus'', becoming sports editor. Katz later acted as a stringer for ''The New York Times'' covering City College sports. He became a copy boy for ''The New York Times'' and worked his way up to the sportsdesk. In 1966 he moved to Europe to work for ''The New York Times'' international edition and in 1968 he covered the Floyd Patterson vs Jimmy Ellis heavyweight title fight in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1970 he went freelance and wrote for several publications before returning to the United States in 1972 where he also re-joined ''The New York Times''. Michael Katz (born January 1962) is an American politician from the state of Delaware. Katz represented the 4th district in the Delaware State Senate for one term, serving from 2009 to 2013. Originally a member of the Democratic Party, Katz later joined the Independent Party of Delaware. He is currently the Independent Party's nominee for U.S. Senate in the 2024 election. Professional career Katz is an anesthesiologist, having been trained in pediatric anesthesia at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He also owns a real estate company. Katz received an MBA from Georgetown University School of Business, a BS from Bates College, and an MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine. Michael Katz ( he, מיכאל כץ; born 24 January 1970) is an Israeli chef and food writer. He is a former teacher at the Le Cordon Bleu institute and has opened his own restaurant in Israel. Before leaving in the fall of 2021, Katz was the head teacher of the professional gourmet chefs course at the Art Dan Gourmet culinary school based in Tel Aviv.
