Michael Howe (politician)
Michael Howe is an American politician serving as the North Dakota Secretary of State. Elected in November 2022, he assumed office on January 1, 2023. Education Howe earned a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism and mass communication from North Dakota State University in 2010. Career In 2011 and 2012, Howe served as a legislative correspondent and legislative assistant for Congressman Rick Berg. He also served as an agricultural policy advisor to Berg. In 2013, he was the director of legislative affairs and communications director for the North Dakota Corn Growers Association. He was elected to the North Dakota House of Representatives in November 2016 and assumed office on December 1, 2016. Howe served as a member of the House Water Topics Overview Committee. Douglas James Burgum (born August 1, 1956) is an American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and politician serving as the 33rd governor of North Dakota since 2016. He is a member of the Republican Party. Burgum was born and raised in the small town of Arthur, North Dakota. Alvin Jaeger
Alvin A. Jaeger (born December 10, 1943) is an American politician and member of the Republican Party who had served as the Secretary of State of North Dakota from 1993 to 2023. Jaeger was elected to the office in 1992, and re-elected in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018. Biography Al Jaeger was born in Beulah, North Dakota in 1943. He was raised there and he graduated in 1961 from Beulah High School. He attended Bismarck State College and in 1963 earned an Associate of Arts degree. The North Dakota House of Representatives is the lower house of the North Dakota Legislative Assembly and is larger than the North Dakota Senate. North Dakota is divided into between 40 and 54 legislative districts apportioned by population as determined by the decennial census. The 2000 redistricting plan provided for 47 districts. As each district elects two Representatives to the House, there are currently 94 representatives in the House. Representatives serve four-year terms. Elections are staggered such that half the districts have elections every two years. Originally, the North Dakota Constitution limited members of the North Dakota House of Representatives to two-year terms, with all representatives standing for reelection at the same time.
