Michael Hegarty
Michael Hegarty is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for Cill Chartha and the Donegal county team. Alongside Johnny McLoone, Barry Monaghan and Eamon Reddin, he played in a minor team that nearly qualified for the 1996 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship final. He made 50 championship appearances, a team record when set in 2011 and not exceeded until Colm McFadden made his 51st championship appearance against Derry in the Ulster quarter-final on 25 May 2014. He broke the record at 46 in the Ulster SFC quarter-final against Cavan where, though named to start, he appeared as an early substitute for Martin McElhinney. He started Mickey Moran's first game in charge of Donegal, a league win at home to Offaly in October 2000. CLG Chill Chartha
CLG Chill Chartha is a Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA club based in Kilcar, County Donegal, in Ulster, Ireland. They have won the Donegal Senior Football Championship on six occasions, the last in 2017, they won the Division One title on 14 occasions and are current All Ireland Comórtas Peile champions. The first recorded game was played on the beach in 1921 which was a inter townland match between “Up the Glen” and Muckross. The first official match played in Towney was between Ard na Ratha and “South of the County”. The Galway county football team ( ) represents County Galway, Galway in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Galway GAA, the County board (Gaelic games), county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. 2016 Donegal Senior Football Championship
The 2016 Donegal Senior Football Championship was the 94th official edition of the Donegal GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior graded teams in County Donegal. The tournament consisted of 16 teams, with the winner going on to represent Donegal in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship. Naomh Conaill was defending champion after defeating St Eunan's by a scoreline of 0–11 to 0–10 in the 2015 final. However, the club relinquished its crown when losing to Cill Chartha at the semi-final stage. This was Réalt na Mara's return to the senior grade after making the straight bounce back up from the I.F.C. since being relegated in 2014. On 16 October 2016, Glenswilly claimed its third S.F.C. title when defeating Cill Chartha in the final in MacCumhaill Park 1-10 to 0-12. Glenswilly GAA (Irish: ''CLG Gleann tSúilí'') is a GAA club based in Glenswilly, County Donegal, Ireland. Most noted for winning the Donegal Senior Football Championship in 2011, 2013 and 2016, the team has fielded players like All-Ireland winning captain Michael Murphy. The 2017 Donegal Senior Football Championship was the 95th official edition of Donegal GAA's premier Gaelic football tournament for senior graded clubs in County Donegal. Sixteen teams competed, with the winner representing Donegal in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship. The championship began with four groups of four, and continued with a knock-out format. 2011 Ulster Senior Football Championship
The 2011 Ulster Senior Football Championship was the 123rd installment of the annual Ulster Senior Football Championship held under the auspices of the Ulster GAA. It was won by Donegal who defeated Derry in the final. It was their first Ulster title since 1992. The winning Donegal team received the Anglo-Celt Cup, and automatically advanced to the quarter-final stage of the 2011 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. Donegal's semi-final defeat of Tyrone and Derry's semi-final defeat of Armagh brought about the end of a long period of dominance by these two counties. Armagh and Tyrone had shared the previous eleven Ulster senior titles between them in a run stretching back to 1999. 2011 Dr McKenna Cup
The 2011 Dr McKenna Cup was a Gaelic football competition played under the auspices of Ulster GAA. The tournament was won by Derry, their first McKenna title in 12 years. They defeated Tyrone in the final. The final was postponed due to the death of Tyrone manager Mickey Harte's brother Paddy Harte. The competition was also affected by the murder of Michaela McAreavey, Harte's daughter, on her honeymoon in Mauritius. Jim McGuinness
Jim McGuinness (born 16 November 1972) is a Gaelic football coach, and former player, who won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship as a player with, and later manager of, the Donegal county team. Since 2023, he has been manager, for the second time, of Donegal's senior team. Having guided Donegal to 2010 All-Ireland Under 21 Football Championship final, McGuinness was appointed manager of the senior county team later that year. In his time at the helm, he oversaw a Donegal team that won three Ulster Senior Football Championship titles in four seasons and led his team to the 2012 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship title.
