Michael Gunder
Michael Gunder (1954 – 14 March 2021) was an associate professor in the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of Auckland, and was a past president of the New Zealand Planning Institute. He had a BA (Sociology), MA (Planning), both from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, and a PhD in Planning from the University of Auckland. In 2011 he was made a Fellow of the New Zealand Planning Institute. He was the managing editor of the academic journal ''Planning Theory''. Gunder spent fifteen years working as a professional planner in government and as a consultant, prior to becoming an academic in 1994. He worked in New Zealand, Canada, the UK, and the European Union. Psychoanalytic Theory
Psychoanalytic theory is the theory of personality organization and the dynamics of personality development that guides psychoanalysis, a clinical method for treating psychopathology. First laid out by Sigmund Freud in the late 19th century, psychoanalytic theory has undergone many refinements since his work. The psychoanalytic theory came to full prominence in the last third of the twentieth century as part of the flow of critical discourse regarding psychological treatments after the 1960s, long after Freud's death in 1939. Freud had ceased his analysis of the brain and his physiological studies and shifted his focus to the study of the mind and the related psychological attributes making up the mind, and on treatment using free association and the phenomena of transference. Poststructuralism
Post-structuralism is a term for philosophical and literary forms of theory that both build upon and reject ideas established by structuralism, the intellectual project that preceded it. Though post-structuralists all present different critiques of structuralism, common themes among them include the rejection of the self-sufficiency of structuralism, as well as an interrogation of the binary oppositions that constitute its structures.
