Michael Gibbons (footballer)
Michael Gibbons (born 15 May 1995) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited from Williamstown after he won two J J Liston Trophys, the best and fairest in the VFL. Early life and junior career Gibbons began his football journey with Coolamon (NSW) before playing under 18 football in the TAC Cup with the Murray Bushrangers. Overlooked in the draft he moved to Melbourne to further develop his game. The versatile midfield-forward spent five years at Williamstown in the VFL. In that time, he became a dual J.J Liston Medal winner and Norm Goss Medallist in the 2015 VFL Grand Final. Michael Gibbons (Medal Of Honor)
Michael Gibbons (November 15, 1866 – February 27, 1933) was an oiler serving in the United States Navy during the Spanish–American War who received the Medal of Honor for bravery. Biography Gibbons was born on November 15, 1866, in Ireland and after immigrating to the United States he entered the navy. He was sent to fight in the Spanish–American War aboard the USS Nashville (PG-7), U.S.S. Nashville as an oiler. After being discharged from the navy he lived for a while in Portsmouth, Virginia and after living in the US for 35 years he returned to Ireland. Mike Gibbons (born April 9, 1955) is an American ice hockey coach. After 40+ years in coaching, Mike Gibbons retired after the 2020 season with the St. Cloud State Huskies men's ice hockey team. Following the COVID-shortened 20–21 season, Gibbons returned to his alma mater as an assistant for the first time in 38 years. Career Gibbons is a graduate of Bemidji State University, where he was played for the Beavers men's hockey team from 1975 to 1979. He gained All-America notice in 1978 and 1979 and was a member of the national title-winning team in 1979. He started his coaching career at Bemidji State as an assistant in 1981. Gibbons then served as the BSU head coach during the 1982–83 season, while previous head coach Bob Peters took a year-long sabbatical. Michael "The Godfather" Gibbons (born September 23, 1978 in Midfield, Alabama) is a lightweight prizefighter known for his uncanny ability to make people miss him with punches. He is the reigning Southern Championship Boxing Council Junior Welterweight Champion and as an amateur won the 2004 Alabama State Golden Gloves title, 2005 Alabama State Golden Gloves title, 2006 Alabama State Golden Gloves 132-pound open division championship. He also won the 2005 Southeastern Association Championship. Gibbons was turned onto the sport at the age of 16 when he saw Pernell Whitaker fight Buddy McGirt on HBO on October 1, 1994. Michael J. Gibbons (July 20, 1887 – August 31, 1956) was an American boxer from 1908 to 1922. The brother of heavyweight Tommy Gibbons, he claimed Middleweight Champion of the World status in 1909 following Stanley Ketchel's murder. Although he never won the title, Gibbons is regarded as one of the all-time best welter and middleweight boxers by historians. Statistical boxing website BoxRec lists Gibbons as the #18 ranked middleweight of all time, while ''The Ring Magazine'' founder Nat Fleischer placed him at #9. Eric de Courcy "Mike" Gibbons (20 October 1913 — 20 August 1962) was an Australian rugby union international. Born in Sydney, Gibbons was a product of St. Leonard's Grammar School. Gibbons, a 165 cm scrum-half, won a first-grade premiership with Northern Suburbs in 1933, scoring a decisive try in the grand final. He featured in another premiership in 1935 and made his NSW representative debut that year against Queensland. In 1936, Gibbons was called up by the Wallabies for the tour of New Zealand, playing in all three Tests, two against the All Blacks and one against NZ Maori. He was recalled after three years to vice captain the Wallabies on the 1939–40 tour of Britain, but the trip had to be abandoned two days after they arrived, with war declared on Germany. Michael George Gibbins (12 March 1949 – 4 October 2005) was a Welsh musician, most notable for being the drummer of Badfinger. The Iveys Michael George Gibbins started playing drums while in the sea cadets. He played around South Wales for a time with a group called "The Misfits" before auditioning for the rival Welsh band The Iveys in 1964. The Iveys had a minor hit with " Maybe Tomorrow".
