Michael Friedman (photographer)
Michael A. Friedman (born May 3, 1943) is a former music manager and producer, photographer and author. Career From 1966 to 1982, Friedman was a music publicist, artist manager, music producer and amateur photographer. He was a publicist for the Mamas and Papas, Glen Campbell, Herman’s Hermits, The Hollies, The Turtles, and The Bee Gees. He then managed an unknown Todd Rundgren and his first band Nazz, producing the first “Hello it's Me” at the age of 24. In 1968, Friedman went to work Albert Grossman and helped run Grossman’s management firm ABGM in New York. At ABGM, Michael worked with Bob Dylan, The Band, Janis Joplin, Paul Butterfield, Odetta, Ian and Sylvia, Ritchie Havens, Peter Paul and Mary, James Cotton, Todd Rundgren, Professor Longhair, Tom Rush, and Gordon Lightfoot. Bridgeport
Bridgeport is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Connecticut and the fifth-most populous city in New England, with a population of 148,654 in 2020. Ritchie Havens
Richard Pierce Havens (January 21, 1941 – April 22, 2013) was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. His music encompassed elements of folk, soul (both of which he frequently covered), and rhythm and blues. He had a rhythmic guitar style (often in open tunings). He was the opening act at Woodstock, sang many jingles for television commercials, and was also the voice of the GeoSafari toys. ''One for the Road'' is a 1980 live album and video by the Kinks. It was released on 4 June 1980 on LP and cassette in the US, on video on 25 June 1980 in the US, and on 1 August 1980 in the UK. Reception Most of the recordings date from a portion of the 1979-1980 American tour in support of the band's ''Low Budget'' album, hence the inclusion of six songs from that LP. Those songs were augmented by a selection of hits dating back to the band's formation in 1964. In his 1980 review of the album for ''Smash Hits'', David Hepworth said that the album was "as convincing an argument for banning live albums as you'll find". Bearsville Sound Studio was an independent residential recording studio founded by Albert Grossman in the Bearsville, New York, Bearsville section of Woodstock, New York. From the late 1960s through the early 2000s, the studios were the site of notable recordings by numerous artists including Todd Rundgren, Meat Loaf, Tesla (band), Tesla, R.E.M., Jeff Buckley, Dave Matthews Band, Phish and others. Bearsville Records is a record label that was founded in 1970 by Albert Grossman. The label closed in 1984, two years before Grossman's death. Sally Grossman, Albert Grossman’s widow, was running Bearsville Records from 2010 until her death in March 2021, at the age of 81. Bearsville's initial distributor was Ampex Records. From 1972 until its folding, the label was distributed by Warner Bros. Records in most countries. In the UK it was distributed by Warner until 1979, and then Island until 1981; its last few British releases were licensed to independent labels Avatar and Lamborghini. Bearsville Records ceased active operations in 1985. Rhino Records currently distributes Bearsville catalog. Tom Rush
Tom Rush (born February 8, 1941) is an American folk and blues singer, guitarist, and songwriter whose success helped launch the careers of other singer-songwriters in the 1960s and who has continued his own singing career for 60 years. Life and career Rush was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, United States, the adopted son of a teacher at St. Paul's School, in Concord, New Hampshire. He began performing in 1961 while studying at Harvard University, after having graduated from the Groton School. He majored in English literature.
