Michael Curtis (28 February 1920 – 3 July 2004) was a British newspaper editor and executive. Curtis was born in Cambridge and studied at St Lawrence College, Ramsgate and Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. During World War II, he fought with the Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Michael Curtis is a musician and composer. He was also a member of These Vizitors consisting of his family members, The Curtis Brothers, Crazy Horse, Buffalo Springfield Again, the Byrds with Gene Clark, and later with Hoyt Axton. He also co-wrote the hit "Southern Cross" with Steve Stills, which was recorded by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. It had originally been "Seven League Boots" written with brother Rick. Michael Curtis (born in Dallas, Texas) is a retired American soccer defender who played in the World Indoor Soccer League, Major Indoor Soccer League and USISL. He currently coaches with DFW Tornados. Player Curtis attended Bryan Adams High School before entering the U.S. Naval Academy. He played two seasons at Annapolis before transferring to Dallas Baptist University for his junior and senior seasons. While at Annopolis, he tied for the Patriot League single game assists record with four in an October 20, 1995 game with West Point. He spent one season with the Mesquite Kickers in the USISL before signing with the Dallas Sidekicks in 1999. James Michael Curtis (March 27, 1943 – April 20, 2020) was an American professional football player for the Baltimore Colts, the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Redskins, who played 14 seasons from 1965 to 1978 in the National Football League (NFL). He was a four-time Pro Bowler in 1968, 1970, 1971 and 1974. Although sacks were not official during the time he played, Curtis was a good blitzer, recording 22 sacks, including one in which a famous photograph was taken of Curtis tackling Roman Gabriel's head. Curtis also picked off 25 passes and was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Year in 1970 by a panel of 101 sportswriters. William Michael Curtis (30 August 1933 – 1 December 2009) was a New Zealand cricketer who played first-class cricket for Wellington from 1956 to 1959. Mike Curtis replaced Trevor McMahon as Wellington's wicket-keeper and held the position for three seasons, before McMahon returned and reclaimed his spot. Curtis represented North Island in a trial match at the end of the 1957–58 season, taking four catches in each innings and making his two highest first-class scores of 27 not out and 22, but it was not quite enough to win the match or gain him a spot in the touring side to England later that year. He spent decades involved in cricket organisation and coaching.
