Michael Crane (writer)
Michael Crane is an Australian poet, writer and compere of poetry events in Melbourne. Born in Brisbane in 1961, crane moved to Melbourne at age 18. He has been an active member of Melbourne's poetry scene, performing in many open poetry readings from 1989 to 1991. In 1991, Crane organised the first Poetry Slam to be held in Australia and has organised and run more than 150 since. Publication Crane's work has been published in literary journals and magazines, and he self-published three chapbooks between 1991 and 1994, including ''The Book of Screams'', ''An Almost Summer'' and ''Joan of Arc was a fire eater''. Ten of Crane's poems appeared in the collection ''Loose Kangaroos'' in 1998. Crane's first collection of poetry, ''The Lightmaster'', was published in 1999 by Phoebe Press. Michael Joseph Crane
Michael Joseph Crane (September 8, 1863 – December 26, 1928) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia from 1921 until his death in 1928. Biography Michael Crane was born in Ashland, Pennsylvania, and studied at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Overbrook. He continued his studies at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where he earned a Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree in 1890. He was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Patrick John Ryan on June 15, 1889. He served as a curate at a parish in Reading and later aSt. Malachy Churchin Philadelphia. In 1903, he became rector of St. Francis de Sales Church, also in Philadelphia. He was named a papal chamberlain in 1914, and became vicar general of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 1920. Mike Crane (born April 8, 1963) is a former Republican member of the Georgia State Senate from the 28th District. Prior to his election to the state senate, Crane was the Republican nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives in Georgia's 13th congressional district in 2010. Political career Mike Crane challenged David Scott, the Democratic incumbent congressman from the Georgia-13th, in 2010, but lost the race. In October 2011, State Senator Mitch Seabaugh resigned from the Georgia State Senate and a special election was called, which Crane won. Crane was re-elected in 2012 and 2014.
